Large villas to rent in SpainCall your brothers and sisters. Round up your aunties and uncles. Ok, so we won’t compel to to get in touch with estranged relatives, but with large Spanish villas, you’ll have plenty of space to spare – but there are more reasons to book a big rental than just having room to breathe. With a private pool you won’t need to worry about bagging sunbeds; with an onsite vineyard you can relax with a glass of home-grown; with a sandy shore just steps from the door, you can split up and pursue different interests – in truth, booking large villas in Spain makes any holiday that bit more special.

HomeAway has over 22,000 holiday homes in Spain, each sleeping over eight people – and with everything from city centre apartments to rustic farmhouses in rural villages, you won’t be limited for choice. All you need to do is decide where to go, and with that, here are just a few of our favourites.

Our pick of large Spanish villas

Large villas in Costa del Sol Large villas in Costa del Sol

Blue Flag beaches and golf courses galore – these are just two of the reasons the Costa del Sol is so perennially popular. The stretch of coastline has watersports covered, nightlife pinned down, and family fun sorted, all making for a fantastic group destination. Hot it up in August with highs in the mid-30s, or head here in December for a refreshing change from the UK’s winter chill. This villa in Benalmadena comes with a pool table, Jacuzzi and BBQ terrace, so everyone’s kept happy regardless of their ideal break.

Large villas in Costa Blanca Large villas in Costa Blanca

We’ve already made mention of Blue Flag beaches, of which Costa Blanca has more than its fair share – it’s the family attractions that make this a great choice for groups. Little ones and big kids both will enjoy the thrills of Aquapolis Water Park in Torrevieja, or the stomach-wrenching rides of Terra Mitica in Benidorm. If a little bit of luxury is in order, this villa by Arenal Beach should do the trick. Rustic in appearance but with all the mod-cons you’d expect, families needn’t worry about anything after booking: sunscreen, toiletries and towels are provided, as well as a basket of local meats and cheeses. Yum in the sun.

Large villas in Costa Brava Large villas in Costa Brava

The sun, sea and sand continues, but Costa Brava also has some spectacular scenery – over a third of its landscapes are protected, meaning this is prime country for outdoorsy group getaways. There are plenty of touristy resorts, but if a sun-bleached villa in Lloret de Mar sounds about right, keep browsing; this 13th-century country house couldn’t be more different. Sleeping up to 18, it has a bridal suite with Jacuzzi (wedding abroad, anyone?), dark wooden beams, incredible stone work, a snooker table, pool, kai pond and gazebo… We could keep going. Seriously.

Large villas in Andalucia Large villas in Andalucia

If you’re determined to see a side to Spain altogether more authentic (than a typical holiday package, at any rate), explore wider Andalucia. It covers a huge area outside of Costa del Sol, including cities like Cadiz and Seville, and coasts like Costa Tropical and Costa de la Luz. If you can’t stand the sand and the sea doesn’t excite, opt for an inland retreat instead – but with this country house in Cabo de Gata, families won’t be divided by tastes. The coast is nearby, but so are salt flats and lagoons of flamingos, old Moorish towns and dramatic mountain paths. With so much choice, no one will leave disappointed.

Large villas in the Balearic Islands Large villas in the Balearic Islands

Minorca, Majorca, Ibiza or Formentera? You might even be planning a boat trip to Cabrera, the lesser-known and uninhabited National Park that sits amidst the Balearics. Whichever your chosen destination, there are thousands of large holiday villas to suit. Grab a group of mates and jet off on the clubbing break of a lifetime in Ibiza, or take the family to a little fishing village in the south of Minorca. This bright villa in Majorca has four bedrooms and three bathrooms (so you can say goodbye to queuing up for a shower...), and an enormous pool (to avoid being splashed by the kids – again) Set in Llucmajor, the thrice-weekly market makes for a great family day out, with stalls selling everything from produce to homemade souvenirs.
