HomeAway travel expert
Cucumber-laden and smothered in mud: oh, the lengths we go to for the purposes of relaxation. But when it comes to hen parties and weekends away, nothing comes close to the indulgence of days spent at a spa. After all, the intense planning that accompanies today’s do means fewer and fewer of us have the energy for a night on the town. Whether you’re the bride-to-be, the mother of the groom, or the long-suffering Maid of Honour, escape the madness and mayhem: treat your party to a well-deserved pampering.
Preened to perfection, you’ll be more than prepared for the Big Day itself.
That said, where to go is the big decision you face. How about a weekend in London, shopping after a sea-salt scrub, or a quiet weekend in Scotland, sipping champagne before that Swedish massage? You could always enjoy a break in Tenerife, soaking up the sun when you’re not soaking up the sangria. Wherever you dream of taking the wedding party, you’ll find great hen accommodation when you browse through HomeAway. But before you book that villa, apartment or lodge, why not check out our hen spa weekend suggestions?

Hen weekend breaks in Perthshire, Scotland
For the hen with a taste for the rural life, Perthshire’s pretty unbeatable. Situated in the east of Scotland amidst rolling green hills and a healthy lashing of lochs, it’s a picturesque part of the world; and one brimming with luxury spas. Crieff Hydro’s a great first port of call, with its Victorian spa pool and pampering packages: with everything from steamy saunas to organic scalp treatments on offer, they’ve got it covered. Had enough of taking it easy? Outdoor activities like horse-riding and hiking are all easily arranged there, too.

Hen weekend breaks in Costa Adeje, Tenerife
If Scotland’s a little too chilly for your liking, how about year-round temperatures of 23ºC? Tenerife’s a fantastic choice for hens seeking heat while away, and its Costa Adeje is one of the most beautiful parts of the Canary Island. Backed by mountains leading down to the blue Atlantic, it’s home to the Sheraton La Caleta, a spa where you can indulge in a dizzying array of treatments. Staples include a steam room and several plunge pools, but quirky additions include an ice igloo (nice to know you can cool down after all that sun...).

Hen weekend breaks in Marianske Lazne, Czech Republic
One of dozens of spa towns in the Czech Republic, Mariánské Lázně may be hard to pronounce, but it’s certainly not difficult to fall in love with. Home to a number of luxury spas that take advantage of the area’s healing springs, it’s a centre filled with historic architecture and surrounded by fairytale forests. Most of the mineral baths are open to the public and free to enter, and there are incredible salt caves to visit just outside town. But for more specialist pampering, head to one of the dedicated spa hotels: at Nové Lázné, mud treatments and foot massage await.

Hen weekend breaks in Hammamet, Tunisia
If you’d rather overlook Europe, Hammamet is North Africa’s answer to spa destinations. Its location on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea has seen it develop as a centre for thalassotherapy; or, for the spa novices among us, that’s the use of salty seawater for cosmetic and health treatments. Built in the grand Moorish tradition, the Alhambra Thalasso Spa offers some particularly dazzling deals, but there are a number to choose from in town. This is, after all, the place named after the North African bath: after getting steamed up (hammam) and scrubbed down (gommam), it’ll be time to head for the souk.

Hen weekend breaks in London, England
Of course, if long flights and sun-soaked days aren’t conjuring blissful images of your break, then consider a hen weekend closer to home. London is bursting with luxury spas, and offers every activity imaginable when you’re not lazing by the edge of a pool: from shopping on Oxford Street to drinking cocktails in Covent Garden, there’s something to satisfy even the fussiest of hens. For a really indulgent day out, check out the special treatments offered by the likes of the Four Seasons, The Sanctuary, Ushvani or Elemis Day. After a facial and body wrap, it’ll be off to the West End with you for a taste of Broadway’s best.
