2014 German Grand Prix: setting
In its early days, the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg circuit, to give it its full name, looked very different from its present incarnation. In 1965 however, the track was extensively rebuilt, taking it away from the town and adding the Motodrom stadium in the process. The track is notoriously tough; during the 1980s, it was common for only a handful of F1 drivers to complete the race. Today, Hockenheimring is a modern, world-class track that has seating capacity for an astonishing 120,000 spectators.
