2014 Canadian Grand Prix: setting
The Montreal circuit is located in an area of the city called Parc Jean-Drapeau. The island upon which it’s built is a man-made affair, originally constructed for Expo 67. Half of the track, from the hairpin turn all the way to the pit area, follows the Bassin olympique. This rectangular basin was constructed for the rowing and canoeing events at the 1976 Summer Olympics. The course record, incidentally, was set by Ralf Schumacher in 2004.
