Goult is an historic village situated in south of France. It is an ideal destination for hikers and sightseers, due to its unspoilt landscapes and carefully restored buildings, and offers great holiday rentals for those who want to experience the ‘Real Provence’, with its contrasting environments and sleepy pace of life.
Goult enjoys an almost perfect location perched on a hill within the Luberon region, close enough to neighbouring villages and towns for variety, but far away enough to fully enjoy its peacefulness. A stroll through the picturesque streets is the first thing you should do upon arrival in Goult, where you can discover the ruins of the old ramparts, the cultivated terraces, visit the Roman church and sit with a drink in the shade of the many ancient olive trees and fruit trees lining the village.
Walking, hiking and cycling are popular activities in Goult, and the beautiful surrounding countryside is an ideal location in which to do it. It is just a 3km to both the neighbouring villages of Beaumettes and Saint Pantaleon. Beaumettes main attraction is the remains of its 15th century chateau, whilst Saint Pantaleon is home to a 12th century Roman chapel. Heading out further into the Luberon mountain range, there are many walking and cycling tracks for public use, allowing you to lose yourself in the Provencal region.
Hiking and trekking will build up a hunger, and Goult and its surrounding villages have a number of high quality restaurants that utilise locally-grown ingredients such as olives, fruits and other fresh produce, giving you an opportunity to sample a wide variety of dishes, that are made to family recipes that have been passed down for generations.
Goult is an ideal base from which to visit several neighbouring villages within the 50km Luberon mountain range, known as the ‘Golden Triangle’. Beaumettes, Saint Pantaleon, Gordes, Cabrieres d’Avignon and Menerbes all within 10km of Goult, and each offers something different to explore. Further afield, the medium-sized town of Avignon is just 40km away, and is known as a city of history, architecture and theatre. A hire car rental is strongly recommended to make the most of your trip to the Luberon region.
Goult and its surrounding region has a pleasant climate, with long, hot summers and mild winters. Rainfall is steady throughout the year, but more than 80mm in any given month is rare, and a holiday rental in Goult can be enjoyed at almost any time of year.
There are several options to get to your holiday accommodation in Goult from the UK. Regular flights go direct to Avignon Airport (AVN) 40km away, but Nimes (FNI) and Marseille (MRS) are also just over a little hour away, allowing you to shop around for the best value flight from your nearest airport.
