Holidaymakers searching for a wonderful vacation any time of the year should pay a visit to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany. This is a very scenic, mountainous area in Upper Bavaria, which in turn is in Southern Germany. The warmest time to visit this part of Germany is July and August when the maximum high temperature is 24 degrees centigrade, although June is also very warm. The temperature in December, January and February is cold enough to encourage occasional substantial snowfall. Ironically the higher temperatures encourage the most rainfall in the region with June having an average of approximately 105mm rainfall.
Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC) is about one hour and 30 minutes drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and has flights to and from many destinations across Europe and beyond. Air Berlin and Lufthansa service the most destinations including Amsterdam (AMS), Athens (ATH), Beijing-Capital (PEK), London-Heathrow (LHW), Madrid (MAD), Moscow-Domodedovo (DME), New York (JFK), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Tokyo-Narita (NRT) and Washington-Dulles (IAD) amongst many others. Car rental companies are located outside terminal 1 with Avis, Europcar, Hertz, National/Alamo, Sixt and Terstappen all operating from here.
