Falesia is a beach area that stretches from the west of Quarteira to Olhos d’Agua, in Portugal’s sunny Algarve region. Ideal for couples and families, Falesia is quieter and more laid-back than the neighbouring resorts of Quarteira and Vilamoura, but offers a prime location from which to venture into the busier areas should you wish to do so. Many Falesia apartments offer fantastic quality holiday rental accommodation just meters from the beach.
Falesia is an extremely popular destination with couples and families due to its excellent beach and relaxing atmosphere. The beach is long, sandy and surrounded by sandstone cliffs and pine woods. Despite its quality, the sheer size of the beach means there is plenty of space for everyone, and the safe swimming conditions are great for children.
Falesia has a pleasant and laid-back nightlife, which offers a good break from the livelier scenes of Albufeira and Vilamoura. A good selection of restaurants and low-key bars make the area good for families and couples, and those seeking busier spots can make the short journey into one of the neighbouring towns.
A holiday in Falesia is a golf-lover’s dream, with a great selection of courses to choose from. No less than seven courses are within a 20km square radius of Falesia beach, meaning you could play a different course every day of the week if you wish to do so! The 16th hole at The Royal Course at Vale de Lobo has a cliff-top carryover, and is one of the most famous holes in the golfing world.
For those that love to get out into the surrounding countryside, a number of coastal paths take you away from Falesia, and through some fantastic mountainous scenery to the nearby villages of Acoteias and Olhos.
A great benefit of staying in Falesia is the proximity to the nearby towns and villages. Vilamoura is a prestigious beach resort just 13km away, which has a bustling town centre and a busy nightlife. A few kilometres in the other direction takes you to Quarteira, where you can pick up some gifts from the gypsy market, and enjoy fresh seafood at any one of a number of quality restaurants. A number of other towns are just a short journey away – the best thing is simply to get out there and explore!
The Algarve region boasts some fantastic weather all year round. Summer temperatures peak at well into the thirties, with an average of 29C from July to September. Although winters are cooler, the average temperature of 15C means that you can still sit and enjoy a drink on the balcony of your holiday rental apartment.
Several airline companies fly from the UK to Faro Airport (FAO) every day, and the Algarve’s capital lies just 30km from your accommodation in Falesia. The cheapest flights are through budget operators such as easyJet, and the journey takes around three hours from the UK.
