Shopping is cheap at the arcades and bazaars, but expect to barter for the best price. After dark, discos and bars offer plenty of lively entertainment.

Luxor is the start of many Nile cruises. The ruins of ancient temple complexes at Karnak and Luxor are within the city. The Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, both ancient burial grounds with magnificent tombs, are situated close to Luxor.
Situated on the banks of the Nile, Aswan is the sight of the huge Aswan dam, as well as many Nubian settlements, and the gardens on Elephantine Island.
Cairo is 450km from El Gouna, on the Red Sea, but it is just a short flight away. The pyramids, the ancient Sphinx and many mosques make this seem like a city from another world.
Egypt enjoys zero rainfall and year round sunshine – the perfect recipe for a holiday destination you might think. Winter average temperatures are around 20C(68F) which is very pleasant, but from May to September, temperatures soar to over 30C (85F) on a daily basis.
