Pictures of Casares do not prepare you for the beauty of this whitewashed Andalucian village between Estepona and Sabinillas on Spain’s Costa del Sol. The roads approaching the village are often littered with parked cars, with visitors looking at the village in pure amazement. Nine miles from the beautiful beaches of the coast, a holiday villa in Casares or an apartment rental seems miles away from the coach tours and bustling streets of the Costa del Sol resorts.
When you first arrive in your apartment for rent in Casares, head for the main square, the Plaza de Espana, to gain your bearings. You can explore the whole village on foot, and there are some superb restaurants and pavement cafes for refreshment too. From the Plaza de Espana, you are treated to fabulous views of both the village and the coast. Walking further up the hill, past the Virgin del Rosario chapel takes you to the old fortress, which is well worth investigation from self catering accommodation in Casares. If the sky is clear, the Rock of Gibraltar and the North African coast are visible.
On either side of the village are the Natural Parks of Sierra Bermeja and Sierra Crestellina, ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding holidays. Bird watching and trekking has become a major attraction to Casares villas and holiday rentals, and there is a possibility of seeing the rare Spanish lynx too. There are a large number of golf courses available in the region which is open to the public.
The Casares coast is great for not only sunbathing and swimming, but also sailing and a vast range of water sports. Available from the beach are deep sea fishing trips and boat excursions along the coast.
The African coast is extraordinarily close, and day trips shopping in the Moroccan city of Tangiers are a definite possibility.
The towns of Manilva and Estepona are both within access of a holiday rental villa in Casares, with their services, restaurants, shopping and sporting opportunities.
The Casares villa rentals bask in over 320 days of sunshine every year, with annual average temperatures of over 17?C making Casares a perfect spot for a relaxing, peaceful Costa del Sol holiday at any time of the year.
