Callas is a colourful, historic village that stands in the shadow of an elaborate 13th century chateaux on a ridge above the Draguignan countryside in Provence. Callas is a hive of activity throughout the year, and the steep streets, ancient defensive walls and soaring bell tower gives it a noble and laid back feel.

The boundary of the Natura 2000 Nature Reserve passes Callas, and is known to be of the most beautiful landscapes in Provence. The proximity of the park, as well as the famous Verdon Gorges just half an hour away, means that there are extremely few places form which walking holidays are such a joy. The landscapes of the Natura 2000 are home to a great number of bird and animal species, and there are some wonderful market trails to follow. There are also a range of wonderful fishing rivers and mountain streams to fish in the area, permits for which are wonderfully easy to obtain. The countryside is also perfect for horse riding holidays, and there is a riding stables just a few kilometres outside the village. Finally, the region is awash with golf courses, the Terre Blanche and Saint Endreol golf courses being among the finest.

The beaches of Frejus and Les Issambres, the closest to Callas accommodation, are among the toast of the Cote d’Azur, and have a great amount of parking as well as endless soft sand beaches and water sports centres galore.
