Budens is a fantastically picturesque Portuguese village near Vila do Bispo in the Algarve, Portugal. Located right in the heart of the biggest golfing region of the Algarve, golf holidays in Budens accommodation absolutely thrive. Found on the south western tip of the Algarve, Budens is rarely overrun by tourists, despite its proximity to two coastlines. There are few places in the Algarve that remain so unspoilt and un-developed.
Despite the size of Budens, there are a staggering number of sites to see. The ancient fountain that stands right in the centre of the village is a great source of pride, and there are a whole ring of old windmills surrounding the village, as well as the original lime kiln. The ornately carved altar of the 16th century church is also well worth finding from Budens accommodation.
The beaches that surround Budens are an absolute delight. The famous Algarve coastline is rugged and yet lined with astonishing, golden and white sand beaches, which stretch as far as the eye can see in some cases. Salema beach is the closest to a holiday rental property in Budens, located just 1 mile away, and the walk is a delight in itself. Salema is one of the last undiscovered beach havens in the Algarve, with a charming little fishing village right on the beach, with a handful of fantastic little beach bars, traditional restaurants and a water sports centre offering body boards, fishing rods and canoes for hire as well as windsurfing lessons. Scuba diving is particularly popular here. There are a great range of beaches in the area, with plenty of scope for sailing, swimming, deep sea fishing and surfing, especially on the westward facing beaches that face the open Atlantic.
The huge Parque da Floresta Golf Course is just 10 minutes from Budens, offering 18 holes of magnificent golf to anyone wishing to play, as long as they have their handicap certificate. Those that would prefer to walk without a golf club in hand are fantastically well catered for too. The coastal paths locally are spectacular, especially those meandering around the dramatic cliffs of Cap St Vincent, the most south-westerly point of Portugal.
The fantastic resort town of Lagos, which is among the most popular tourist haunts in the Algarve, is just 15 minutes by car. Lagos is a hive of activity all year round, and the ideal place to arrange any excursion, from sailing to scuba diving, sightseeing tours to trips to local water parks. The old town is a real sight for sore eyes, and whatever your tastes, you will be able to find a restaurant that simply steals your heart within the town.
A holiday rental property in Budens is just over an hour from Faro International Airport (FAO). There are a great range of direct flights from airports throughout the UK landing in Faro, and upon your arrival, the choice of hire car is almost limitless.
