Holidaymakers looking for a fantastic place to stay in France should try the village of Baden. A pretty scenic village by the river, Baden provides an idyllic location for a relaxing holiday and is located in the Morbihan department of Brittany in the North West of France. Anyone staying in Baden will find some lovely countryside and scenic pathways ideal for hikers and cyclists to enjoy, especially along the riverbank. Baden is located conveniently close to many places of interest with museums and galleries in the region including the Musee de Cire de l’Historial in Sainte Anne D’Auray. Various historic buildings can be found in and around Auray, which is just a few minute’s drive from Baden. These include some 15th and 16th century houses in the ancient quarter of St-Goustan and the 17th century church of St Gildas. A 20 minute drive to Vannes will take visitors to the cathedral, the Museum of Fine Arts and an aquarium. Rennes is about an hour and a half away from Baden and is a city full of great architecture including the Parlement de Bretagne and the cathedral. The Parc Thabor in Rennes features a wonderful botanical garden.
The climate in North West France is a temperate one, although the weather conditions are greatly affected by the Atlantic Ocean. The Brittany area of France receives about 200 days of rainfall annually with November to January the wettest time of year. July and August are the hottest months of the year with average maximum temperatures approximately 21 degrees centigrade.
Rennes –Saint Jacques Airport (RNS) is about an hour and 30 minutes drive from Baden. Flights arrive here from a handful of French cities as well as Southampton (SOU) with Flybe, who also offer seasonal flights from Birmingham (BHX), Edinburgh (EDI), Exeter (EXT) and Manchester (MAN). Seasonal flights also arrive here from Barcelona (BCN) courtesy of Brit Air and from Cork (ORK) and Dublin (DUB) with Aer Arann.
