The Amalfi coast on the west coast of Italy is well known for its beautiful coastline and the town of Amalfi makes an excellent base for exploring this lovely region. A self catering villa in Amalfi is within easy reach of many important centres such as Pompeii and Naples as well as being within a few miles of Positano, Ravello and many other beautiful resorts. You can even rent a boat and sail along the coast to have lunch at one of the beach restaurants.
The pebbly beach at Amalfi is beautiful but it can be crowded in the summer, especially during August when the children are on holiday. Enjoy a stroll along the seafront to the marina to see the multi-million dollar mega-yachts.

The main pier in Amalfi is called the Molo Pennello and from here tickets can be bought for local ferries which run to Positano, Salerno, Capri, Naples and Sorrento. There are several boats each day so go exploring the easy way, and get a little sea breeze too.

Enjoy a pizza under the lemon trees or take a cappuccino and a sweet treat which Amalfi is so famous for.
Positano - Positano is a slow 40 minute drive along the coastal road from your Amalfi villa. An alternative mode of transport is to take the less congested ferry which gives the best views of this colourful town clinging to the hillside. Positano is known for its beach, gourmet cuisine and alcoholic drink called ‘Il Albertissimo’.
Capri - Take the Capri Boat Excursion to see a host of small towns and grottos along the way and get to swim from the boat. You also have three hours in Capri to explore this most beautiful island. The central piazzetta is lined with designer and luxury boutiques.
Pompeii - The ancient ruins at Pompeii are just 36km from your self catering Amalfi villa. Enjoy the scenic drive inland. Lost for 1700 years beneath the ash and pumice of Mount Vesuvius, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site of great significance.
Amalfi enjoys beautiful weather all year round, with winter days averaging 21C (70F) and summers reaching 32C (89F). The area has very low rainfall with July and August being the wettest months having just one inch of rain (2.5cm).
