Alpine Meadows vacation rentals are set in a mountain resort on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, California. It’s one of the premier resorts in the Tahoe area, and is set at a destination that offers a wealth of things to do both in the winter months and summer.
If you arrive at Alpine Meadows in winter then you’ll be in the perfect environment for skiing. The resort here offers a skiable area of almost 2,500 acres and boast a total of 100 runs, relatively evenly distributed across beginner, intermediate and advanced levels – the longest is three and a half miles in length. The slopes are served by 13 lifts, and even though the resort is snow-sure, there are extensive snowmaking facilities at Alpine Meadows. There’ a large ski school at the resort, offering both private and group lessons. Meanwhile the terrain park here is considered one of the best in the area, having been designed by a company in charge of the freestyle events every X-Games since they started. In the meantime the wider area offers a system of cross-country ski trails, as well as routes for snowshoe trips. In the summer months around vacation cabins in Alpine Meadows there’s just as much to do. At this time of year the lake itself becomes the focus, with people heading for the water to enjoy boating, fishing and swimming via the various public beaches that line the shore. For fishers there are large stocks of various species of trout and bass. On land you could enjoy invigorating hikes or bike rides on the lakeshore or in the mountains, while on the North Shore you’ll also find scenic golf courses at Tahoe City and Old Brockway.
The South Shore of Lake Tahoe offers just as much to see and do both in winter and summer. This is where a number of gaming resorts are located, like Harrah’s Lake and Horizon. Outdoors there’s the famous gondola, which belongs to the Heavenly ski resort and runs during the summer, offering unforgettable views of the lake and its mountain backdrop.
Thanks to the altitude, there’s a big fluctuation in seasonal temperatures around Alpine Meadows. Winters bring consistent snow, with around 500 inches falling every year. Summer temperatures though are pleasantly warm, reaching the mid-20s from June to September.
Travelling from Britain, you could get to Alpine Meadows by flying to Las Vegas (LAS) from a number of UK airports Glasgow (GLA), Manchester (MAN), London Gatwick (LGW) and London Heathrow (LHR), with Thomas Cook, Virgin and British Airways. From there you could connect to Reno (RNO) or Lake Tahoe Airport (TVL), on the South Shore with Southwest or Allegiant Air.
