Holidaymakers looking for a wonderful vacation any time of the year will find the Stowe area fits the bill. This mountainous area of Vermont in the North of the United States provides great winter and summer activities for tourists. During the winter Mount Mansfield provides some fantastic skiing for visitors to the Stowe area. The area provides great year round hiking trails, mountain biking, horse riding and rock climbing on the faces of Smugglers Notch.

Visitors can take scenic rides by carriage or wagon through the area or enjoy the views from higher up in the gondola cable cars and by soaring in a glider plane.
The area boasts numerous bars, cafes and restaurants serving a good variety of cuisines ranging from American and Mexican to Asian or Italian. Self catering holidaymakers can purchase food and drinks from local stores. There are many shops located in the Stowe area selling a variety of items such as jewellery, furniture, sports goods as well as arts and crafts.
Stowe has a rich tradition of culture and arts with several galleries located in the village such as River Arts, Helen Day Art Center and Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery. Visitors will also be able to visit museums in the area including Stowe Historical Society Museum and Vermont Ski Museum. There are some wineries in the state of Vermont, which offer wine tasting to visitors. Tours of the area and nearby towns are offered including night time lantern tours and visits to a granite quarry.
Vermont has warm humid summers and cold winters. July is the warmest month of the year with an average high of around 78 degrees Fahrenheit, while June and August are almost as warm. Temperatures in January and February can dip as low as 5 degrees Fahrenheit but average out at about 17. The summer months are also the wettest with August averaging approximately 4.8 inches of rain, while the winter sees plenty of snow in the mountains.
The nearest airport, Burlington International is approximately 45 minutes away and has flights from various other U.S airports including Chicago-O’Hare, Cleveland, Detroit, Newark, New York-JFK, Philadelphia and Washington Dulles. Rental cars and taxis are available in Burlington, Waterbury and in Stowe. Overseas visitors can fly into New York-JFK and get a connecting flight with Delta Airlines to Burlington. New York handles flights from major European cities including Amsterdam, Berlin-Tegel, London, Madrid, Moscow- Sheremetyevo, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Rome-Fiumicino amongst others as well as many other cities worldwide.
