Jane & Nigel - Holiday August 2011

Jane & Nigel - Holiday August 2011
4 out of 5
Review Submitted: 14 September 2011 Date of Stay: August 2011
We stayed at the villa in August for a week and quite honestly could have stayed another week.

Its a lovely, quiet location where you can relax, kick back and just take it easy. The Villa has all you need inside and beautiful scenery outside as far as the eye can see.

You definitely need a car for ease of access, its a 5-10 minute drive to the nearest supermarket but l'm sure if you stock up when you go shopping you probably wouldn't want to venture very far from the pool and barbecue at the villa.

Whilst you're staying at the villa its definitely worth taking a day to visit Ronda. It took us approx 1.5 hrs but worth the trip to see the gorge which splits the town into two different sides. One side is modern and lively and the other is the complete contrast with cobbled streets and shops selling typical Spanish bric-a-brac (definitely worth taking a camera to capture the breathtaking views).

We never actually met Richard (the owner) but had a couple of telephone conversations with him and he is a really nice guy and it has been a pleasure dealing with him.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to friends and family alike.

Altas Vistas

We had a fantastic two weeks at this villa. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped. All arrangements and meeting up to get the keys were simple and efficient. Our three daughters all loved it and we found it roomy and with lots of space outside. The views were superb and we don't think the pictures do the villa justice - it's better! If you want a Villa with hot weather, simple motorway and airport access, stunning views and virtually 100% privacy then we believe this is an excellent choice.

Total relaxation in a wonderful setting with all essentials and more contained in the villa.

Once at the villa (we were meet on route at the appointed place) we found it to be very clean and well equiped both inside and with ample outdoor furniture.

Our only quibble was due to the fact we are 'shy naturists', and there was a road, albiet it was hardly a busy road, but there was traffic using it to feed the odd villas higher up the mountain, so from the swimming pool and area around one could be seen, should the vehicle occupants care to look.

That being said we would recommend the villa to others, and for those who can not live without the beach and major shops Malaga is only a short drive away.

Thank you for renting us your smashing villa.

The Villa

2 out of 5
Review Submitted: 29 June 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We found this villa clean, functional but only just fulfilled our basic needs. The views are stunning so don't forget your binoculars, it is literally trains, boats and planes. We liked the planes best as they come in over the top of the villa and you can watch them till they land. Next door has 4 good guard dogs and were normally fine but the alsation gets fretfull when his owners go out. His name is Hobbs and he will be quiet if you tell him to. It was lovely to wake up to the sun first thing and have breakfast on the patio beside the front door. This is where the shade is during the day but there isn't any around the pool area except for one parasol. It was a little disappointing that due to the hill behind everywhere was in shade by 6.30 even in the long light evenings. We were preturbed by the very loud cracking noises that woke us up but after a chat with the owner we were told that it was only the villa warming up and cooling down. He said this happens a lot in Spain especially in the summer and is nothing to worry about!!! Away from the villa there are Lidl, Mercadona and Carrefour supermarkets which carry a good range of english goods. There is a lovely market on a Sunday morning and we found a good variety of places to eat and things to do, there was even a British Bar. We like the area, would we go back to the villa..........NO.
Owner's Response: These guests wanted absolute privacy as they like to spend their time not wearing any clothing - unfortunately the villa is not so remote that there is no-one about and this did not meet their expectations. We think the location is a good compromise: it is out in the country with great views while only being a 5 minute drive from the shops.

Until now we haven't had requests for extra shade other than that provided by the pergola but we will look into larger parasols for the pool area. A previous reviewer mentioned the sunloungers - we have replaced a damaged one and provided new covers for all.

Ideal for Relaxing Holiday

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 27 September 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Booking the villa was simple and it was just as easy meeting up with Stuart, the local contact, who took us to the property. He and his wife Sadie are a great source of local information for visitors. The villa is placed up in the mountains around Cartama Estacion and consequently there is a winding tarmac road up to the property. Typical Spanish back road but better than a lot we've seen. First impressions were very good and that is very important! The views from the front of the villa were outstanding. We also found that the photos in the advert were truthful. Many, we have seen in the past for other properties we have visited must have been taken years ago but not these. We spent most of our time at the villa either in the pool or on the patio. The latter was a firm favourite for us in the evening watching the planes which come into Malaga from the direction of the mountains. We didn’t find these aircraft an intrusion at all. All facilities provided were excellent although we didn't use the washing machine and dishwasher! Our only gripe was that the poolside recliners had seen better days but I am aware that this will be resolved by the Owner. We lost the water supply on our second day as did all properties around us but Stuart was quickly on to it and it was soon resolved. A nice touch at the end of our holiday was to receive a telephone call from the Owner to check if our stay went well. All in all, I think the best example of whether or not a villa is worth visiting is to ask the question, “Would you go again?” Our answer is a resounding and unequivocal, “YES!”
