Finca la Hijuela is situated in the hills close to Vejer, in a small village, on a ground of over 7000 m². There are four rental houses on the Finca, all surrounded by very old oak trees, and more than 30 orange-lemon-grapefruit trees. We also grow almonds, guavas, olive and figs (among many others). In the centre of the Finca you find a large pool (10 x 5 m). In this colourful mature garden, you have all privacy wanted. You can finally read that book you wanted for so long. You have nothing to read? Than visit Vejer, Conil, Medina Sidonia, Seville, Cadiz, Tarifa, Gibraltar or any other not so famous villa that is near. Enjoy the most beautiful beaches of the Costa de la Luz with more than 15 km of fine sandy beaches. The nearest beach is about 8 km away. Make a trip to Morocco. Several nice restaurants are nearby. This is the perfect place to make out of your holidays some very special days. This is for all those who like the sound of cowbells in the distance and the smell of jasmine.

Casa Azahar is a beautiful old-looking Andalusian house, with a large terrace at the entrance, to sit comfortable in the shade. We situated it at the beginning of our orange-yard. Especially in springtime, you can enjoy the smell of the flowering trees. It is a cool house, since it provides itself shade from the sun by all the trees that surround it. However those that like the sun, are free to enjoy the rest of the garden together with all the birds. Composed as following: (ground floor only), entrance by terrace to large living room, two seated sofa, TV with satellite and DVD-player, radio-cassette-CD player. A fully equipped kitchen, dining area with two seats, bathroom with shower and toilet, and a royal bedroom, equipped with two individually beds (90 x 200 cm). Each window gives you a spectacular view at the garden and our orange-yard. All windows are provided with mosquito screens. Heating is possible by a propane heater when necessary. The Finca and the pool are fenced.

About Carin Rempe

Born in Holland, as a child i stayed often in Conil de la Frontera, Cadiz, since a friend of my mother´s lives there.. During childhood i always thought i was living 1 year in holland, and than 1 year in spain...I really liked to be in the south of spain... Than as a teen ager, i met my now husband,...have been living in sevilla together, than another 10 years in holland again, and finally we bought our finca and started our new live here..

The surroundings are so beautiful, it´s pure nature, and going easy, nothing to do with our way of life in Holland.

We live apart from it all, but on the other hand, everything is so near, you can easily visit all different towns and cities. But when you get back here, entering the gate, you just smell the garden , the pine trees, and enjoy a soft blowing wind, and be yourself..

Finca la Hijuela is the perfect place to combine disconnecting and doing culture.You can find it all within 100 km.!! Ancient Cadiz, Jerez with bodegas and the horse riding school, Seville with its Moorish architecture and Flamenco Tablaos, Tarifa (the ruines of Baelo Claudio), Trafalgar, as also Vejer, and Medina Sidonia are worth a visit. And when temperature keeps rising, there are excellent beaches nearby. More than 15 km of fine sandy beaches, laying just there to be enjoyed by you. Sometimes you can see Morocco. It is easy to do your shopping, on the local fresh-markets and there are enough (super)markets and shopping malls in Conil (10 min.), Vejer (7 min.), and Chiclana. Several good restaurants are nearby, some in real surprising locations. In summer evenings you can assist to the many local ferias. Do not feel like driving, culture, people? In our garden you can submerge yourself in a cool big salt-water pool, (10 x 5 m) and hear the birds sing. Just take a swim and relax.

Other Activities: What about listening the birds sing and have a quiet swim?

Paradise and lovely people and animals

We spent last week in the beautiful house Azahar. A lovely place to be. It has all you need for a wonderful vacation! A pefect house, beautiful garden, charming animals, very nice owners, silent beaches and the best of Andalucia! We definitly will come back to this paradise.

Toller Weihnachtsurlaub

In der Zeit vom 22.12.11 bis zum 1.1.12 waren wir Gäste im Haus Azahar.
Das Haus ist großzügig und komfortabel eingerichtet und war mit
Propangas gut zu heizen, was aber wegen des sehr guten Wetters und fast
sommerlicher Tagestemperaturen nur Abends und Frühmorgens notwendig war.
Es befindet sich in einem herrlich mit Palmen und Zitrusbäumen
bewachsenen sehr ruhigen Garten, so dass man das Gefühl der Alleinlage
hatte. In kurz erreichbarer Nähe fanden wir wunderbare Strände ,Klippen
und kleine Dörfer und Städtchen. Jetzt im Winter war natürlich alles
sehr ruhig und wenig bevölkert, was wir herrlich fanden. An den Stränden
waren wir fast allein. Es gab wenig Bebauung und kaum Hotelanlagen, aber
} Natur pur!! Die Pinienwälder luden uns zu schönen Wanderungen ein und
} wir konnten viele Stunden bei leichter Bekleidung am Strand verbringen.
Unsere Gastgeber waren äusserst hilfsbereit und freundlich und die
Kochkünste von Carlos konnten wir geniessen. Ein wunderschöner Platz um
zu entspannen und diese herrliche Region Andalusiens zu entdecken. Wir
kommen bestimmt wieder.

Last september we made a road trip in Andalucia and stayed for 5 days in caza Azahar, at finca La Hijuela. It is a wonderful place to stay! This is a place where you just can relax and enjoy the garden, animals, weather and the swimpool. Carin and Carlos are excellent hosts and do respect your privicy while still having attention to their guests. La Muela is quite place but Vejer is at 15 min drive and there are a lot of nice beaches not far away. We had a wonderful time and hope to come again to this nice place!

What can we say about this idyllic retreat.It is such a relaxing holiday destination that I'd recommend it every time. I did have trouble finding the site, so I would call the house as soon as you arrive in the village. Carin did drive down to meet us.
"Vejer on the hill" as I called it, is a beautiful little town with good walking, cafes, little shops and bars. We found that Conil has the best local beach, although we would have liked to try the stretch of sand between San Fernando and Cadiz. We visited Cadiz and Seville and were both stunning cities. You definately need a car!
We loved it!

Simply the best place to stay in Cadiz

Finca La Hijuela is just incredible - I highly recommend that you visit Carin and Carlos yourself, as their hospitality as well as the beauty of the finca and La Hijuela as a whole is unparalleled.

Then garden and the pool are just amazing, the houses are *very* clean and nicely furnished... we loved the orange trees, we loved sitting on the porch when the sun went down and we enjoyed preparing our own seafood-dinners in the kitchen a lot. Due to the reviews other visitors wrote I expected a great stay, but reality would exceed my expecations by far :-)

To sum it up: If you plan to go to Andalusia and to stay near Vejer de la Frontera, this is the place to go!

PS: Of course the cats and dogs (hi Pera!) add an enormous bonus... but unfortunately there is no 6-star-rating.
