Duplex built on the natural rock of Salobreña, and situated in a quiet cul-de-sac amongst Spanish neighbours . It combines comfort and vintage design with local, rustic character. 1st floor: spacious, aircon open plan kitchen and living area, a large leather sofa, dinning table, and a small terrace that receives direct sun light from morning to late afternoon, perfect for alfresco dining. The original stone wall is a beautiful feature of the property, it features a dimmer switch for cosy evenings. 2nd floor: two quiet bedrooms with comfortable beds overlook a narrow pedestrian alley, a slate tiled bathroom with large bathtub and utility room. East orientation ensure calm, cool nights. Being built on the slope of the mountain has the surprising effect of keeping a very pleasant temperature both in summer and winter. Car access to the front door, plenty of parking spaces available. No traffic noise. Safe for children. Local supermarket located within yards. WiFi, Ipod deck, 46´ Satellite TV, books, games. Aircon/heating. 10 min walk to the beach

Peaceful and spacious: This is a spacious, bright, air conditioned, well decorated and stylish property with no traffic noise. The terrace is perfect for breakfast under the morning sun, and nice and cool in the evenings. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and face a quiet pedestrian street, ensuring a good night's sleep! There is a storage room for luggage and laundry. Towels and bed linen are included. When booking for more than a week a 3h cleaning is included in the price rent.

Authentic: This is a house in the centre of the old town, set amongst Spanish neighbours and narrow white washed streets. It is not a beachfront apartment but rather a special place to observe the daily goings-on of the town. The most southern european skiing resort, Sierra Nevada, is just 1 hour away, next to the beautiful city of Granada and the Alhambra which is only a 45 minutes drive from Salobreña. The Alpujarras is a mountainous area of remote villages that is very much recommended for their breathtaking scenery and hearty gastronomy. Finally, the Costa Tropical has unspoiled coves and beaches, and a large area protected after being declared National Park.

Comfort: Whether you want to stay at home and relax, or go and explore the area, the property is ideally located. Books, DVD´s, music, boardgames, cosy living room with large corner sofa, WiFi, satellite TV (Astra), Air conditioning/heating, large bathroom... 320 days of sun per year, village life, mountain range, sea, trendy Malaga, historic Granada... you choose.

About Jorge Postigo

I am a Spaniard living between London and Spain. I take much care in keeping my Salobreña property in top shape, spending time decorating it in a non-fussy, elegant style. When I go back to Andalucia I like to live the atmosphere of the town, walk the streets, talk to people, and appreciate the small, colorful things that make life fun. When at home I like to relax in comfortable spaces that are clutter free and genuine. I want my guests to feel the same way when they stay in Salobreña. I have a local housekeeper that takes care of handing out keys, cleaning and solving any issues on the spot. I am always available too. When not at work, or thinking about ways to improve my property, I practice Swasthya yoga, outdoor swimming, listen to flamenco, and read country noir fiction.

Why Jorge Postigo chose Salobrena

In 2005 I found a town house built in the 60´s with lot´s of charm and potential. I refurbished it, and since then I enjoy decorating it to make a comfortable, spacious and stylish home in which to spend a holiday.

What makes this house unique

It is not a beach apartment nor a villa with a swimming pool, but rather a charming town house in which to feel part of town life. Comfortable & bright, it is just a 2 minute walk to a convenience shop, a 10 minute walk to the beach, and a 50 minutes drive to Granada and Malaga.

The Costa Tropical is a small stretch of coast line nestled in between the Costa del Sol and Costa Almeria, although only 60km in length it boasts some of the most beautiful coastline and beaches with breathtaking journeys along its jagged coastline enabling the more adventurous to find that perfect hide-away for soaking up some Mediterranean sun. Salobrena is a Moorish white town perched on a rocky outcrop surrounded by a sea of sugar cane fields and tropical fruits contrasting with the intense blue of the Mediterranean. The town centre is made up of several neighbourhoods built within the town walls during the Middle Ages; Albaycin, de la Loma, el Brocal and la Fuente are still maintained in their original Medieval layout of labyrinths, winding streets, passageways, arches and geranium covered windows. The unique sub-tropical climate makes this an ideal all year round holiday apartment - come in the winter months and you can sunbathe and ski on the same day.

Other Activities: Great scuba diving in La Herradura (20 minutes drive)

Ski: The most southern european skiing resort, Sierra Nevada, is just 1 hour away, next to the city of Granada.

Notes: The property has been renovated and decorated with care and is used regularly by me when not rented. It is an ideal place for a peaceful, authentic holiday in a traditional Spanish village. It is only 45 minutes away from the historic city of Granada, and the Alhambra. It features Wi-Fi, a 46' satellite TV, DVD, ipod deck, boardgames and a library with books in Spanish and English. It is conveniently situated 10 minutes walk from the local beach, popular with young people and families. There are many other beaches and coves along the coast. The property is 1 minute walk to a small local supermarket. 5 minutes walk downhill to banks with cash machines, larger supermarkets, chemists, newsagents, bars etc. I will provide a information with personal recommendations on the best places to eat in Motril, Salobreña and Almuñecar, as well as best beaches around the area, day trips to nearby towns, and telephone numbers you might need. A welcome pack of food is provided & included in the price.

Pleansant flat, even in November

We can recommend this flat without hesitation. We, a couple, with a 3-year-old son (smaller children: attention with the stairs!), spent there one week in November 2009. The internet photos and the description are very accurate, so that we found what we had been looking for: a quiet, clean, modern flat with rustic features, well maintained, practical equipment of the kitchen and the bathroom. We liked a lot the wide space of the living-room, the view over the next house towards the sea, the balcony, the neighbourhood with the small streets (note: not so easy to drive up/down, narrow and steep streets) and the white houses. I, personally, liked the details of the flat, the candles, mirrors, traveller`s photos, and the high-quality library of Spanish literature (some English books I remember, not sure). My husband and sun liked to use the DVD and CD player (take CDs and DVDs with you) After a long day excursion we were happy to sleep in beds not to soft (duvets for low temperatures provided). Last but not least, the communication with the owner worked very well. I felt very good informed. All in all, we would have liked to stay longer at Salobrena, a lively coast town (fortunately, with only smaller hotels in comparison to others), where you have a choice of shops, supermarkets, banks, and have a quick access to the pebble beach near the centre.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

The best place to stay!

I've been in Salobreña several times now and I must say that this home away from home, where I spent some days last month, is fantastic. Bright, very comfortable, spacious, equipped with everything you need and in a great location. It is in the old part of town, so the most charming places are just a step away, as well as a nice grocery store at just 10 meters away.
Both Jorge, the owner, and Rita, the house keeper, are charming and helpful with anything you could need.
A great choice, will be back. Thanks Jorge!

We were very happy with our stay at this apartment in Salobrena. Email communication with Jorge was very quick and helpful, he always answered all our questions quickly. The apartment was very well set up and comfortable. We had a little trouble finding it, but were helped by a friendly local. The town of Salobrena was perfect for our trip and we enjoyed walking and exploring. Thank you Jorge and Rita for your help and hospitality. We are a family from Seattle, WA USA.

FANTASTIC.....what a place, the house was perfect with everything needed for a great stay, every home comfort. Really comfortable Settee, which is so important when you are there for a month, great TV, ipod deck worked a treat. Wifi brilliant. The kitchen diner, living room was a great space. The picture of the lounge is exactly as it is. The balcony was a great chill area with space to eat and relax. We will certainly be booking again. Salobrena itself - just do not want to broadcast the place as everyone will want to go - a real GEM.

If you go - go uphill and find the Restaurant Pesetas, the best Tapas we have ever had, but must say we were not disappointed in any of the bars with Tapas, I have come away with loads of ideas.

So handy for the town, great view of the rock and sea, perfect.

Did quite a bit of walking, great little walk book in the house. Perfectly situated for Granada and so may other places - still loads to see so we will have to come back.

We went for a chill and relax and certainly managed to do both - so many happy memories! Rita is a real star keeping the place all in order.

What can we say except Thank you.
