Outdoor activities in the Greater Philadelphia area are many, from carriage rides to shopping and visiting historic sites. Independence Hall is the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution which were both important in the founding of the United States of America. The Liberty Bell Centre houses the huge copper bell that was cast at the Whitechapel Foundry in London and shipped to Pennsylvania in 1753 to be installed in Independence Hall. The 12 foot-circumference bell cracked leading to many myths and the crack can still be seen. Get a free ticket for a guided tour of the courtroom, Assembly Room with George Washington’s “rising sun” chair and see the original draft of the Constitution document. Valley Forge National Historic Park, Longwood Gardens and Philadelphia Museum of Art are also worth visiting.

The city of Philadelphia is well served with public transport including a subway but those staying elsewhere may need to arrange a hire car for getting around the area.
