1 Bedroom apartment 35m2, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2 adults plus 1 child.

Placed on the main promenade, as a part of the 'Astor' hotel building, built in 1970, on the fifth floor, in a lively and sunny area, at 30 mt from beautiful sandy beaches. Ideally located at 1 Km from town centre, 90 Km from Florence, 25 Km from the Pisa airport and famous tower, 30 from Lucca centre. In the building: lift. Nearest grocer's shop 300 mt, supermarket 1 Km, restaurant 150 mt, main rail station 'Viareggio' 2 Km, sandy beaches 30 mt, tennis 500 mt, pinewood relaxing/children-playground area 500 mt, riding school 5 Km, golf club 5 Km.

One bed room flat, with modern and simple furniture: living/dining room area with panoramic window, sleeping area with 1 bed settee and on request cradle or extra child bed, TV ( has been repaired! ) and Radio. Cooking area separate. Bath/bidet/WC. Heater available. Splendid sea and old port view. Available: washing machine. Small dogs are welcomed.

Apuane Alps Regional Park: For more than thirty kilometres the majestic backdrop of Versilia beaches, the park of the 'marble mountains' that rise behind Carrara and Massa holds narrow valleys and pointed peaks in a succession of almost alpine landscapes.

While slender, pointed rock formations, pinnacles and arches are among the most conspicuous signs of superficial erosion by water and ice, subterranean karstic features are no less spectacular.

The bowels of the mountains where Michelangelo personally selected the stone for his masterpieces, holds surprising cavities such as Antro del Corchia or Grotta del Vento.

In addition to numerous botanical rarities, here it is also possible to observe the golden eagle, red-billed chough and many amphibians and invertebrates.

Versilia is located in Northern Tuscany, near many points of attractions. Viareggio is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches, but also because of the geographic position surrounded by the Apuan Alps, that is the reason of the mild climate, on average from 24,5 in Summer to 9.4 in winter. The town counts about 70,000 inhabitants, its success as tourist resort started in 19th century, the promenade become the heart of the elegant shopping (and it is now-a-days) many Liberty style building enriched the architecture of the centre. Viareggio is the ideal starting point for many interesting excursions: Florence (90 Km) and Pisa (20 Km), for history and culture; Forte dei Marmi (15 Km) the resort most appreciated by artists, politicians and actors for night life and 'gossips'; During Summer months at Torre del Lago (15 Km) take place the worldwide famous 'Puccini Opera Season'; At few kilometres are the Apuan Alps, famous for its marble and the Massaciuccoli Lake, a WWF Nature Park.

Isabella was the absolute best landlord/hostess in our one month visit to Europe. Not only did she give us a sizeable discount because she did not have all the days we wanted, she drove me all over town showing me where the banks, beaches, etc are as well as waited for me while I got groceries. All this and she was VERY pregnant.
The apartment is very cute and well stocked. It is 1/2 block from the beach. You can see the sea and the mountains out the windows - but you have to crane your neck a bit.
Wether you have a car or not, rent a bike. It is the easiest and funnest way to get around. Bikes can be rented in the park at the other end of the block from the apartment. Be sure to lock your bike. Mine was stolen when I was sitting only 4 feet away from it and not paying attention.
The beach across the street is private and covered with umbrellas and lounge chairs and is very expensive.
The best beach is the "free beach" at the other end of town. It is less crowded and, well, free.

Nice little appartment fairly well equipted. Nice location. Shower could have been more powerful.
One had to be very careful what appliances one had on at the same time as the fuse blows. But you get used to it . The television kept going of every 10 mins or so it must have a timer on it. But all in all this place was value for money and we felt very secure and would reccommend it.

Isabella is incredibly accommodating. Could not have asked for more. the apt has a view of the mountains and the sea and is well equipped.

Well located apartment in Viareggio

Apartment is located just off the seafront next door to the Astor hotel: a good location - about 10 minutes walk to town centre and 15 minutes to railway station. Large living room with double bed and sofa bed. Large bathroom and small kitchen. Great for a couple.
Viareggio is good base for visits to Pisa and Lucca; Florence too but it is rather further. We also took the train to the Cinque Terre villages about an hour away. We visited in October. The weather was sunny but there was a cool breeze some days. Some of the bathing establishments were still open. In summer cycles can be hired from tents in the pinewoods behind the seafront. If these are closed out of season you can still hire from a bike shop in the town. Everyone cycles.

Excellent Location in a lovely area of Italy

Nothing was too much trouble for Isabella, who met us at MIDNIGHT to welcome us to the apartment. The journey from Pisa was very easy apart from a little confusion right at the start but basically you are on the same road all the way to Viareggio and it takes about 25 minutes.The apartment was perfect for what we wanted, clean and bright and extremely central to all amenities. We were able to use the little kitchen to prepare breakfast and the occassional evening meal.There is a very nice supermarket within 10 mins walk.The railway station was only a 15 min walk, the ocean 1 min and a lovely wooded park 30 seconds.There is a beautiful promenade which stretches for what seems like miles along the edge of the ocean with lots of designer shops, bars and restaurants.Although we visited many different locations during our stay, Viareggio was one of our favourites.If you are looking for a great location,clean and tidy apartment in a lovely town then this is the one for you.
