Meraner Land in northeast Italy is an ideal location for year round activity holidays. Located in the Trentino-Alto Adige region of the country, this is a wonderfully scenic place with lots of fun things to do and see. This particular region features many places of interest such as the Museum of Natural History at Castle Tyrol and the Museum of Fruit Growing in Lana. The Railway Museum in Rabland is also well worth a visit. There are also some places of great beauty such as the gardens of Trauttmansdorff and the Labyrinth Garden Kranzel. Some buildings worth seeing too include the Monastery of Carthusian as well as the many churches and castles in the region. Verona features some wonderful Roman edifices and medieval architecture. Milan is about three hour’s drive from Merano and features some magnificent buildings and museums, not to mention plenty of shops.
The temperature in Northern Italy does not get as hot in summer as the south, but average maximums in the Alta Pusteria area are around 29 degrees centigrade in July and August. Temperatures normally stay in the 20 degree centigrade area between May and September. October is usually the wettest month of the year with an average of 110 mm rainfall. This ski resort gets plenty of snow during the winter season.
Verona Airport (VRN) is approximately one hour and 45 minute’s drive from Meraner Land. There are flights to Verona from many other European airports such as Amsterdam (AMS), Athens (ATH), Berlin-Tegel, Brussels-South Charleroi (CRL), Dublin (DUB), Edinburgh (EDI), London-Gatwick (LGW), Madrid (MAD), Moscow-Domodedovo (DME) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) amongst others. Passengers will find car rental services at the airport in Verona.
