Marche (Le Marche), Tuscany and Umbria are the three regions making up central Italy. A Marche villa offers all that is best about central Italy, with sun, sea, stunning beaches and dramatic mountains dominate, and where the skiing, climbing, cycling, hang gliding and walking available are exceptional. It lies between the Adriatic Sea and the towering peaks of the Apennine mountains, and much of the Marche province is untouched and unspoilt by the mass tourist market.
Urbino is the jewel in the Le Marche province’s crown. It is a haven for lovers of great Italian architecture and art, with the famous skyline dominated by the twin towers of the palace, and the Centro Storico been rewarded with a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Much of the best art can be found in the Renaissance palaces built by Duke Federico da Montefeltro. A walk up the famous Monte Catria gives the best mountain views I have encountered.
The beautiful marble paved main square in Ascoli Piceno, the capital of Le Marche, is well worth seeing, and taking a house in Le Marche here provide a holiday which will never be forgotten for its beauty, even if art and architecture don’t usually excite you!
If you are looking for property or a holiday rental in Le Marche’s coastal regions, Pesaro boasts an exceptional mix of beach resort facilities, genuine Italian lifestyles and fabulous art heritage. Sirolo has to be the prettiest beach resort though, nestled on the Conero Peninsula.
Le Marche provides a taste of real Italy, with welcoming locals, fabulous art and genuine Italian cuisine. The 180 km of Adriatic coastline is a beautiful destination for beach holidays too, and there are options for lively bustling beach resorts, or secluded, peaceful beautiful cove beaches. Whatever your choice of beach, a house in Le Marche will provide you with exactly what you are after.
The mountainous regions, especially in the south, are some of the most scenic places to walk in the whole of Italy. The wild mountains are often capped with snow late into the spring, and a visit to the limestone caves of Frasassi Caves will leave you in awe. The footpaths and cycle routes in the Sibillini National Park are adventurous and take you deep into the Italian countryside, and you will certainly not be disappointed by the nature.
Masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture are everywhere, and accessible from all of the Marche villas and other properties in Le Marche.
Le Marche is a temperate region, with hot summers, with average temperatures reaching 25°C in July and August, but winters are cold, ensuring great skiing conditions, with temperatures dipping below freezing occasionally in November until February, so taking a Marche villa for the winter will ensure good skiing.
There are three airports within striking distance of Le Marche holiday rental properties, Rimini, Ancona and Bologna Forli Airport. There are many providers flying daily from the UK, so cheap flights to Le Marche are not hard to find.
