BEAUTIFUL TRAD. STONE VILLA, PRIVATE POOL, CLOSE TO BEACH & STOUPA

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Stoupa - Villa To Kyma

2 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, 2 bathrooms (1 ensuite), sleeps 7

Villa To Kyma is a romantic stone villa with a private pool that is lit at night. It's surrounded by olive groves and a 1200 m2 garden. The villa is just outside lively & authentic Stoupa (500 m) with sandy beaches, tavernas and amenities. The area is great for a relaxed summer holiday but also for hiking.

The living room with open plan kitchen is very cosy with its beautiful stone walls, high wooden ceiling and fireplace. Its authentic Greek stone benches have mattresses for 2 extra people. There is a satellite-TV/ DVD, stereo with I-Pod docking st, large variety of CD’s (also Greek music), books and info for you to read and games to play, like backgammon. French doors take you straight into the garden. The bedrooms are equally nice, especially the upstairs bedroom. This opens onto a large terrace with a fantastic view all around of the sea, Stoupa, the sunset, the olive grove and the mountains behind you. Self-catering. Please email us for website address with lots of extra pictures

Interior: Villa to Kyma (English: The Wave) is equipped with: Living with fireplace, satellite-TV, DVD player, stereo set, collection of CD's/DVD's, books and games. Open plan kitchen with cooker, hood, microwave/oven, dishwasher, fridge (incl. freezer). Also you will find plenty of crockery, glassware, pots and pans, cutlery, a water cooker, coffee machine, a blender and a toaster. In the inside dining area the table can be pulled out to accommodate more people. AC in all the rooms. 1 downstairs bedroom with a double bed and a view of the olive trees and the mountains in the distance. 1 downstairs bedroom with 2 single beds and doors that open onto the garden and pool. 1 downstairs bathroom with a shower, washbasin, and toilet. 1 upstairs bedroom with a double bed. This room has a high slanting wooden ceiling and opens onto the large terrace with the beautiful view. It has an ensuite bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet . Washing machine, iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner available.

Garden and pool:: The private swimming pool with overflow has a depth of 1.20-1.75 m. The beaches are less than 1 km from the house. Also there are restaurants within 150 m - 1 km from the villa. The villa has a large 1600 m2 garden, part of this is terrace, part is olive grove and part has flowers and some fruit trees. There are herbs like oregano, rosemary and thyme just outside the kitchen for you to add to your meals. The spacious veranda covers the length of the villa and has a large robust table where you can enjoy your outside meals. It also has lounge chairs where you can relax. In the garden there is plenty of room for children to roam about and enjoy their freedom. There are some outside games to play and there's a hammock to relax in. You can also sit and catch the breeze on the large upstairs terrace with view to the sea and sunset. In the garden you will also find sunbeds, umbrella, a BBQ and an outside shower. The garden is closed by a gate in the shape of a wave.

Is this your kind of holiday?: Maybe we can tell you why we like Villa To Kyma and it's location in Stoupa so much. We wanted to be somewhere where we could experience the feeling of freedom and authenticity. Being in an olive grove in a house built of natural stone with the next neighbour 200 meters away was a good start. The view added the final touch. Of course we also wanted to enjoy some of the village life without sitting in a car too long. The beach is close by. Our children are young, but when they are older they can go to the beach and into town on their own. We like Stoupa, and also Agios Nikolaos, for the scenery and the friendly Greek people, especially to children. The towns are lively. They attract families, sun lovers, hikers, pensioners etc from various nationalities, including Greeks themselves. English is spoken everywhere in Stoupa. We have tried to equip the villa in such a way as to make your holiday enjoyable and to make you feel at home. And we are very interested in hearing your reactions!

A fantastic two weeks

We rented Villa To Kyma from 1st to 15th June 2008. We are two couples who have holidayed together for many years. We had a wonderful holiday in the villa which is a perfect base for exploring the local area - and beyond. A car was a necessity for us to explore. The villa itself is as described - it is perfect! The pool added another dimension to the living area. The villa is well maintained and there is plenty of crockery, etc. It is set in olive groves and is an easy walk to the restaurant and bar area of Stoupa. Typical beachside shopping with two decent supermarkets nearby. The local restaurants (40, the local map said) were great and it is worth going off the main seafront to find a different experience and a different perspective of the sea. The beaches were very good and the welcome from the locals was warm and friendly.

A lovely week

My wife and I and our two small boys (1 & 3) had a lovely week staying in the Villa To Kyma. It's very family friendly (cot, high chair etc) with a great pool and garden/olive grove for the boys to explore - they particularly loved the chickens which wandered through the olive grove each day! Kalogria beach is a great sandy beach and 5 minutes drive away.

Lovely villa

We stayed at Villa To Kyma for a week in late July. It is an absolutely lovely place - very well equipped and furnished with stunning views over Stoupa from the upstairs balcony. The pool is lovely and we spent many days just lounging by the pool reading lots of books. It is very convenient for the village - a short walk/drive to local bread shop and supermarkets. We recommend restaurants in Kalamata about 10 mins drive away and the restaurant Frigano up the road which is also lovely for breakfast.
Sonia was very helpful before and after we left with lots of information about the villa and things to do.
Would thoroughly recommend.

dream holidays

a dream! Warmest recommendation. Marvellous site, well equipped, beautiful, big garden without immediate neighbours, fantastic swimming pool.
Disadvantage: this pools keeps you off from visiting the beach! Nevertheless visit Kalogria beach in the morning and in late afternoon! And have a look to Phonea beach, half way between Stoupa and Kardamyli!
the only "dangerous" incident: when my kiddies found a young small scorpion (2 cm) in their sleeping room. It must have come from somewhere near.
Perhaps you may be interested in visiting Mrs. Burgi Bläuels music festival during summer, just 3 km up the street from Stoupa to between Neohori and Pirgos, performances at sunset in an open air Greek theatre, a mini-Epidauros.

Loved it

I would recommend this villa to anyone; absolutely charming. The website really does it full justice; we got pretty much exactly what we expected. Stunning location, beautiful views, and it feels like a home. We loved the little touches like Sonia's mosaics, etc. It is a lovely place to relax and unwind. My only reservation is that I'd have preferred it if there was less traffic noise; the owners might consider building or planting something to absorb it a bit. But I don't want to overstate this: the road is quiet a lot of the time, and there is so much else to love about this place, it would not spoil your stay. The villa was very clean, and maintained to a high standard. You have complete privacy as the property is gated, and you are not overlooked by anyone.

We drove to Stoupa in the daytime, walked there in the evening. We never had any trouble parking – though getting there was sometimes awkward as there are some roads that are two-way that shouldn't be! Katerina's Supermarket is very convenient and provided us with all our needs. There are plenty of restaurants and tavernas to choose from – the best of them being at either end of the bay. We found Stoupa to be the right sort of lively – not noisy, just a pleasant buzz. We particularly enjoyed the Butcher's Taverna, where they had live music every night.

It's worth noting that, given the nature of Stoupa's beach – sandy, gently sloping, no big waves – the place attracts a lot of young families. Our teenagers had a good time also, though.

Thank you Sonia and Marc! A truly lovely place.

Car: not necessary

The villa is just outside Stoupa, a seaside village with boulevard on the Peleponnese. Stoupa has sandy beaches suitable for children, 2 supermarkets, a bakery, tavernas, an ATM, car rent etc. The bus stop is 800 m. from the villa. Close by are more nice photogenic villages like Kardamyli and Agios Nikolaos. Stoupa is in Outer Mani. The Mani is a part of the Peleponnese that is known for its many towers from where clans used to fight each other. Everywhere in the area hikes have been mapped out that take you through some beautiful nature and give you wonderful views of the mountains and the sea. You can visit the spectacular caves of Pirgos Dirou (1 hour). The busy town of Kalamata is also 1 hour away. As soon as you go into the mountains you will find villages that have been virtually untouched by modern times. If you like to see more of Greece's history you can visit Olympia, Monemvasia, Mistras, Sparta and many other places. The friendly Greeks you will meet everywhere!

Other Activities: 3 beautiful sand beaches within walking distance, many tavernas, great hiking!

Notes:
The private pool (4 x 9 m.) has its own large terrace with plenty of sun and 6 sunbeds to relax on. If you prefer to be in the shade you can sit on the veranda that is 60 m2 and offers you a complete view of the pool. More shade, closer to the pool can be found under the parasol and under one of the old olive trees that we have kept by the pool. The veranda and pool terrace are surrounded by a lush garden and olive groves. In front of the kitchen is a little herb garden with oregano, thyme, basilicum, mint and rosemary. There are a few lemon trees, orange trees, tangerine, sour cherry and cherry trees. The herbs you can use if you plan to do any cooking (Greek cookbook at the house) and of course you can also enjoy the fruit when it's ripe.
