BREATHTAKINGLY ROMANTIC LUXURY WITH BEAUTIFUL SEA VIEWS

Usually when you book a place to stay on your holiday you first decide where you want to go, then you start looking for a nice property in the area. Not so with Villa Sofia. The minute I found it (quite by chance) online, I knew this is where we had to stay - no matter what the surrounding area was like! The photos alone show that this is a magical place.

And it truly didn't disappoint. The villa, terraces and surrounding gardens are spacious and secluded enough that you can wander around in your nightie all day. The view through olive trees over fields to the sea beyond is stunning at any time of day. The plunge pool is glorious. The many places to cook, sit and eat mean you never get bored even if you stay at home every night, and as soon as we had worked out the wood-fired pizza oven we made amazing pizza creation after pizza creation every night.

The villa itself is huge and each bedroom has its own bathroom so 3 couples could easily stay here without getting in each other’s hair at all. There is everything you need from beach towels and things to lie on, sunbeds next to the pool, TV and DVD player for bad weather and a fire indoors for colder nights. The kitchen is lovely and right outside the kitchen door are huge bushes of rosemary and oregano. The decor is wonderful. Quite rustic and tastefully thrown together, nothing off the peg at all.

The nearest really nice beach is only a 10 minute drive away. The sea was warm even in later September/early October so everyone way happy, even our little baby. There are lots of supermarkets and places to buy good food within a 15 minutes’ drive so there is really no reason to go any further. We did go on 2 day trips to the north of the island, but really hanging out at home was almost nicer.

Villa Sofia is managed by Angela and Tony, who will give you as many helpful tips and pieces of advice as you wish, or leave you to unwind in peace – whatever you need.

We had received photos of Villa Sofia when our close and respected friend Petros the Rock was considering purchasing the property, but photos portray images and are not reality.
The reality of Villa Sofia is that it is a haven of peace and tranquility, a place to chill, relax and soak up not just the sun but the all-enveloping ambience of this corner of Cephalonia.
The view of the Ionian Sea is stunning a 'vista panoramica stupenda', the garden and orchard with its abundance of citrus fruits, figs and olives are beautiful and the scent of lavender, rosemary,roses,bougainvilla and other flowers and herbs are constantly apparent. Lets not forget the birdlife,geckos and lizards.
The accommodation is rustic, comfortable and tastefully appointed, but it is the external features that make this venue so exciting. The barbeque facilities, the dining area under the olive tree, the outside shower under the bougainvilla will always be cherished.
Our stay began with one mother of a thunderstorm that lasted for eight hours which was very dramatic and accompanied by strong winds and torrential rain that yielded an estimated twelve inches of rain, the first rains since May, but once it had passed it was wall to wall sunshine.
We went to the local taverna on one occasion which was enjoyable and we went to Skala for lunch on our last full day, the rest of our holiday was spent at the villa and taking the ten minute drive to the supermarket and butcher for provisions.
Every minute at the villa was pleasurable, eating and drinking alfresco and then as the sun set the celestial splendour, the lights twinkling on the adjacent islands just magical.
We have already decided to return next year probably in May when we will spend more time exploring the island but always looking forward to returning to Sofia.
Angela and Tony were very hospitable and very helpful perfect hosts and we look forward to seeing them again.

After a very busy working time my husband and our little daughter and I had a wonderful welcome in Kefalonia and more in Villa Sofia. A magical villa with a wonderful garden, a little chill-out pool and a great view, during the day as well during the night, especially around full moon times. It has been a calm and refreshing holidays for us. It was a delight also to pick our own lemons and enjoy the hidden corners of the garden. We enjoyed also profoundly our contact person, who gave us all necessary attention. Thanks Angela and Tony!The beaches, which are nearby driving distances, were all very pleasant. We would definetely come back again!
