Attica is the southern most prefecture of central Greece. Probably a better description is that Attica is the region surrounding Athens! Things to do on holiday in Attica, Greece
The glorious beaches of Glyfada, Makri and Nea draw huge number of sunbathers and swimmers every year, and for good reason. The beaches are fine, golden sandy beaches, where the long hot summers are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. An Attica villa in Glyfada for example is on one of the finest stretches of sand in Greece, where the warm calm waters lend themselves perfectly to sailing holidays. The nautical week is held in July.
Across Attica, hiking and mountain trekking are hugely popular activities, especially in the north of the region. There are mountain hiking clubs and centres across the region, or you can just buy a map and set of to discover the countryside surrounding your self catering holiday home in Attica.

Athens is the most famous city in Greece, boasting sites which piece together the entire history of this amazing country. The Parthenon, the National garden traditional market in Plaka and a few of Athens’ glorious museums are a short list of the first places to see on a weekend break, but this is certainly not any form of list of all the things to see and do in Athens.
Aegina Island is a blissful paradise, away from the throngs of tourists, isolated 40 minutes from the Greek mainland. It is a haven of peace, where scuba diving and various water sports are the only thing disturbing the tranquillity of the magnificent beaches. The other island of real note, Spetses, is known for its distinctive architecture, unspoilt natural landscape of pine forests and plethora of coves, sandy or rocky to claim for your own for a day.
Weather in Attica, Greece
From January until May, temperatures stay between 10°C and 15°C, making it a very pleasant time to take an Attica villa for walking and sightseeing. In May, there is a dramatic temperature rise, with daily temperatures soaring into the mid 30’s, when the beaches and water surrounding Attica become the focal point for holidays.
