There are some very worthwhile attractions located in the Great North Woods. White Mountain National Forest is a wonderful spot for enjoying some of the most popular activities mentioned above. The Northern Forest Heritage Park gives you a detailed look inside the life of men working in logging camps in the late 19th and early 20th century. An entire logging camp has been recreated and visitors are free to explore at will. One of the most beautiful views that you will ever see can be found at Magalloway’s Tower. There are two trails that lead to this tower. One is much more challenging than the other. No matter how you get there, once at the tower you will be treated to sweeping views of Canada, Vermont and Maine.

During the winter months the average low temperatures are between -15° and -3° C and average highs are between -3° to 7° C. During the spring the average lows are -1° to 5° C and the highs are 12° to 18° C. During the summer the average lows are 11° to 13° C and the average highs are 23° to 26° C. There is between 62 and 111 mm of precipitation per month. During the winter, this is almost always snow.
The closest airport to the Great North Woods is Augusta State Airport (AUG). Some flying into the area chose other nearby airports including Portland International Jetport (PWM) or Burlington International Airport (BTU). You will need a car for use during your stay.
