Les Gets is a largish traditional village on the French/Swiss border just an hour from Geneva airport and part of the Portes du Soleil ski and mountain biking circuit. There are about 100 shops and 25 cafes and restaurants. It is 8-10 hours drive from the channel ports . Good skiing and boarding for all levels and plenty to occupy non skiers.
Excellent British ski schools and British child care
In summer try the bathing lake, walking, mountain biking and golf, as well as all the children activities. It is 40 mins from Lac Leman (Lake Geneva), and approx an hour from Annecy and Chamonix
In winter, wide open tree lined slopes finish in the heart of the village - excellent for beginners, intermediates and experts - ski 680 kms of the Portes du Soleil. The village has an exceptional snow and sunshine record and the grassy slopes make skiing possible when other higher rocky resorts are closed or severely restricted.
Other Activities: walking, children's activities
Ski: Les Gets is part of the huge Portes du Soleil ski area, with 650kms of inter-linked piste. The area is good for beginners and experts and the wide cruising red runs are a delight for intermediates. The series of marked routes around the ski circus is a nice touch. Major improvements to the lift system took place last year and more are due 2003/4. There are a number of good ski/board schools, including those specialising in teaching children. We can arrange qualified ski guiding. Les Gets is on the snowline and so has a better record than its height might suggest. In addition, the grassy slopes hold the snow well, so that it only needs about 4' to make it skiable.
