The charming 18th Century ancient stone house in Turenne has been renovated with stone wall, exposed beams, private terrace with panoramic view towards the Monts d'Auvergne and at night the view of the illuminated château is breathtaking in this fairy-tale village, over looking the valleys of the Lot of the Dordogne.

The 35m2 living/dining room with kitchen opening.

The bedroom is on the level with shower and wc.

Nearest Beach : beach at 250 Kilometres
Car: necessary

Turenne has restaurants and bars one of which is in the castle. A small supermarket opens on Sunday morning, a post office, a pharmacy make up the rest of the local commerce. The nearest big town is Brive just 15 minutes away by car with all the main supermarket, shopping and a wonderful covered Saturday morning market.

Notes

  • Gas, electricity, water, heating, linen provided free for bed+bath+kitchen and end of stay cleaning are included in our prices.
    Bed will be made before your arrival.
  • 25% deposit with booking and the balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to the rental commencement. A returnable security deposit of £100 is required with each individual booking . Minimum rental period is one week. All bookings commence and end on Saturday. Arrivals at 4 pm and departures before 10 am.

The location and views from the house were better than advertised. The house was perfect for 2 people. Virginie was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. The house is situated just below the castle tower and you feel like you are part of a medieval town, not just touring. We were able to visit all the sites (Sarlat, Rocamadour, Perch Merl etc) easily but enjoyed walking around Turenne the best. We took several hikes from the house. There is a grocery store 15 min away but had to go to Brive to get gas as the gas station only accepted EU credit cards. You do need a car.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing

Virginie and Michel are welcoming and friendly hosts. They look after their guests in a genuinely caring way even though it is a self catering place they share any extra produce they have and make sure that your stay is comfortable. The accommodation is clean and full of character and the terrace has an absolutely wonderful view over the valley and up to the castle. Turenne is a pleasant historic town and a good place for local walking and a perfect base to explore the region. We stayed for two weeks in October '10 and enjoyed every day and look forward to returning. We stayed at many lovely places on our 3 month trip in Europe and this was the most welcoming.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

Spectacular stay and incredible hosts!

My daughter and I stayed in this lovely accommodation for 3 weeks in June/July. We couldn't have chosen anything more superior: our views, the house, the village, and most importantly, THE WONDERFUL HOSTS! The Tronche's treated us like family and we actually had tears on departure day! If you're lucky enough like we were, their generosity and warm hospitality will etch a spot on your heart. We can't thank you enough Michel, Virginie and Gaelle!!!

The House was completely charming, and spotlessly clean. It was very well equipped with everything we needed and the owners Le and Michel made us feel very welcome. The bed was particularly comfy!
We spent a lot of time on the terrace, as the view was amazing, and the terrace is covered in vines which was very pretty. Just behind the house you can look up to see the tower of the castle, which is spectacular.
The village is very quaint and a lot of tourists visit but it's still an idylic location.
It was fairly easy to get to the major tourist spotts in the Dordogne. Nothing is more than 45 minutes away in the car, but you do need a car! Very highly recommended. If we went back to the Dordogne region, we would consider staying there again.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
