A very welcoming 'little' house

A very welcoming 'little' house

Although it may be 'little', the house is really comfortable and has a very homely feel. It provided everything we (family of four) needed. We made particular use of the back garden and BBQ in the evening - the garden is not directly overlooked and is shaded in the afternoon/evening which is a bonus in the summer. There are a number of nice sandy beaches and coves within about 15 mins drive - most of which provide free car parking. The swimming pool is great for children and is only a couple on minutes on foot from the house. Bormes les Mimosas is a nearby and worth a visit and provides splendid views of the coastline. The house provides a great base for people who like to explore their surrounding area as it is minutes from the coast but also at the foot of the Maures Mountains. If you don't mind a car journey ( and have nerves of steel) the Gorge du Verdon, is spectacular and well worth a day trip. All in all we're happy to recommend this property to other visitors to the area. We are looking forward to returning to the house soon.

Owner's Response: Many thanks indeed to Sue and family for a very thoughtful review. we have had the little house for 20 years and it is very much our second home. The House Notes which we send to anyone who is interested suggest a day trip (a very long day trip) to the Verdun Gorge and we are delighted that you were able to make the trip; the Gorge is certainly spectacular. Nearer home a visit to the Abbee Thoronet is recommended; over the Autoroute Provencal (A.8) at gate 13 to the village of Thoronet and 2 miles further on. The Abbee is in a delightful setting and very peaceful. The beaches at La Faviere, Le Lavandou, St. Clair, Fossette Plage and Cavaliere all have parking gratuit but not I'm afraid at Cabasson and l'Essangnol beaches; parking at these beaches under the trees £6.50 (approx) for the day. Like you we think Le Lavandou and its surrounds has much to offer and we do hope you will be renting the Little House again; we have pencilled in your provisional booking! Jeremy and Anna.

Charming small house in quiet peaceful area. Ideal location within 10 mins. drive through pine woods to superb beaches. 5 mins. to shops and Bormes les Mimosas, a delightful hilltop village. The house has all that is needed for a comfortable stay. We can't wait to go again.
Owner's Response: Thank you John and Helena for your very supportive review. Yes we are only 225 metres from the road leading to Estagnol Plage, Pelligrine Plage and Cabasson Plage. These three beaches are often described by travel writers as being among the very best on the Cote d'Azur. Not only are they to be found in very attractive settings but they also offer very safe bathing for children. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that you have booked again for next year.

Great Place

We found the Little House perfect for our needs. Everything was neat and in good working condition. Our son loved the board games and the outdoor games provided and I loved the excellent selection of novels to read. It was a great place to spend our winter at. You need a car or bikes because everything is a little too far to walk to, although we did walk to the Grand Pietro Restaurant to get access to internet.
Owner's Response: Dear Sandra and John. Thank you for taking the trouble to write a review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and that the Little House was A1 for your needs. Yes we entirely agree that a car or the hire of bikes is a necessity. The House Notes which all hirers receive makes this clear. The Cote d'Azur is not a bad place to spend February and March; Just ask us for a quote. Jeremy and Anna Wright.

A perfect holiday home with fantastic owners. Everything you think you may need and some things you had not thought of, are there. Just what you want for a holiday villa. Well maintained and updated on a regular basis. Substantial library of books catering for most tastes together with brochures and maps of the area. Visitors book completed by previous visitors ensure you always have something new to discover. Perfect location. Quiet, close to the beautiful beaches, walking distance to bar/cafe/boulangerie.
Owner's Response: Thank you David and Ann for your very kindly review. You have stayed in the Little House many times but it is good to know that you love the area as much as we do.

Little house, lovely location

What a joy to go back to the little house we found 3 years ago, it seems home from home now as we have spent our last 3 holidays there. We have spent many holidays in France visiting the atlantic side and the med from Menton ( Italian border ) down to Collioure ( Spanish border ), so many beautiful places but when we found the little house at Bormes we decided it had everything we wanted for a perfect holiday, a beautiful backdrop of the Maures and Bormes village, wonderful clean and sandy beaches. Busy nightlife in Lavandou if you want that or quiet evenings eating at the little house or the too mention to mention restaurants, there is something for everybody.
There are so many places too within easy driving distance, St Tropez is just along the coast but I still prefer Lavandou and Bormes. A trip to Port Cros, one of the islands from Lavandou is a must, we went on the really early crossing as the sun was rising,we felt as if we had gone back in time.
We like to walk so enjoyed the 20 minute walk to the nearest beach and the Intermarche was only a 10 minute walk.
For those of you who have small children and need to take all but the kitchen sink to the beach it takes a few minutes by car and there is ample free parking at Bormes next to the harbour.
The house has everything you could need and Jeremy and Anna have a well informed info pack. Their french neighbours across the road at the back of their house should you need advice or help during your stay are very helpful.
We look forward to going back !! :)

Thank you Jeremy and Anna

Owner's Response: How kind of Derek and Chris to give the Little House and the area such an excellent review. They have described the area so well there is nothing we can add save to emphasise that a visit to the islands and especially Port Cros is a must. For those who like a holiday out of season and enjoy walking the Des Maures hills provide splendid opportunities.

Le Lavandou is some 20 miles West of St. Tropez and a recent Sunday Times travel article suggests that the resorts to the West are more enjoyable than those to the East. The Le Lavandou beaches ( St. Clair, Fossette Plage, Cavaliere, Faviere,Cabasson and Estagnol) are particularly recommended. They are superb. A trip to the Isles d'Hyeres and especially Isle de Port Cros is a must. The backdrop to Le Lavandou is the range of Des Maures hills; these provide splendid walking opportunities and the roads/lanes by car are quite exciting!
