The spiral layout of Pelissanne makes it a real treat to explore, and there are some absolutely beautiful 16th century villas to choose from. During mid-October, Pelissanne is a magnificent place to take a Salon property as the Wine Festival brings the whole village bursting into life.
The town of Salon-de-Provence is build around the Chateau de l’Emperi hilltop fortress. The centre of town is a beautiful sight, encased in the ancient defensive walls, and there are many attractions packed into the centre. The town is also a modern centre of commerce and leisure, and for those who wish to explore the region from the air, the airfield on the edge of town offers guided flights and flying lessons. If you would prefer to stay firmly on the ground, the French air force train here, giving visitors some amazing, impromptu aerobatics displays.
Marseille Airport (MRS) lies within an hour of any of the holiday rental properties in Salon. Marseille Airport receives a great number of direct flights from the UK, many of which are provided by Ryanair, with services running from Birmingham (BHX), Bournemouth (BOH), Dublin (DUB),Londonand Manchester (MAN). Renting a hire car is highly recommended on a Salon holiday, as the rural nature of the region makes it hard to get around freely on public transport.
