Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Magny les Villers - La Maison des Deux Clochers

2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 1-6

Cozy 18th Century village house in the vineyards of Burgundy.

La Maison des Deux Clochers is nestled just where you want to be in Burgundy - in a quiet, relaxed wine making village located between the medieval town of Beaune (ten minutes away) and Dijon (half an hour North). You will find yourself at the doorstep of Burgundy's most picturesque and famous wine making villages such as Pommard, Volnay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Aloxe-Corton, etc. that are now collectively nominated to become a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The 18th century stone village house, recently restored, has two bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed and one with twin beds. There is also a fully equipped kitchen, a living room, a wonderful bathroom with a tub and shower, a covered veranda, and a private garden area outside for the exclusive use of our guests. The house is completely private and independent (i.e. we do not live on-site). It dates back to 1789, but has been lovingly restored, furnished, and equipped.

Suitability:
  • Long-term Renters Welcome
  • children welcome
  • non smoking only
  • pets not allowed
  • suitable for elderly or infirm
  • wheelchair inaccessible

Country Serenity

  • 4 out of 5
A wonderful old home in a historic old village.. La Maison des Deux Clochers welcomes you with a lovely terrace with shutters which open onto the courtyard. The house is well equipped and will feel like home. This is my second rental with Franck and Laura and the process is quick, communication great. There are so many wonderful villages and sights to see all within a short distance but you will need a car. I spent 1 week here in June and loved to take short day trips to Nuits Saint George, Lyon, Beaune and all the other little villages. Take time to wander the paths through the vineyards.. the countryside is breathtaking.
I would definitely recommend this rental company and their properties.

Lovely Place to Call Home!

  • 5 out of 5
We loved our little house in the tiny village of Magny les Villiers, right in the middle of wine country. The house was well equipped with all modern conveniences and was quiet and comfortable. Although it is a two bedroom house, it migh not work well for two couples since to enter the second bedroom you have to go through the first. It would be fine for a family. We enjoyed daily walks through the vineyards to the neighboring villages and drives each day to different sights and attractions. Franck and Laura left us lots of useful information regarding restaurants, bakeries and sights to see in the area. We also enjoyed the gift of a bottle of local Cotes de Beaune. This is a terrific location in Burgundy and a warm, charming house to call home!

Very enjoying week in a lovely cottage

  • 5 out of 5
Very enjoyable week in the cottage as a young family with a 3 and a 1 year old. We were blessed with lovely weather warm but not hot and the cottage is pleasantly cool at night as it is solid stone and doesn't heat up that much. The cottage is well equipped with everything you would need and very good WIFI which proved a Godsend when we had to rebook plans at the last minute. Lots to do with the kids nearby - chateaux to visit, ours enjoyed Chateau de Savigny, hired bikes and went to Mersault through the vineyards for lunch, swimming in Beaune, lunches in Beaune, the Bouzaise park in Beaune with its water features was fun for the little ones. We didn't do any wine tasting but vineyards all around. You will need a car however as the village is very sleepy and there are no shops.
The place is lovely to unwind and relax in, we had a lovely barbecue in the gardens as well.

Pure charm

  • 5 out of 5
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this restored home. It is well located within the vineyards and close to Beaune where many of our activities were taking place.
There is a bakery and grocery store in the next village (5 minutes away), and home cooking is easy. The owners provide a lot of useful information for navigation, shopping, and dining out. We recommend this home!

Perfection in Burgundy

  • 5 out of 5
This was our second stay in La Maison des 2 Clochers, but it will not be our last. The house is exceptionally well-appointed and furnished and impeccably maintained. The kitchen has everything you need to to be able to take advantage of the treasures on offer at the local marches and shops. Having a washer and a dryer was a real treat (both of which are, by European standards, remarkably efficient), as were the new heaters. The wealth of information on local sights and activities, as well as a supply of paperbacks and videos (we love Father Ted!) make it easy to spend your time as you wish. Walks in the neighboring vineyards and trips to the local marches were daily occurrences for us. Most of the visitors who have stayed in the house have written unusually extensive comments and recommendations in the guest book, which is also very helpful. Communications with the owners are always answered promptly; we would absolutely recommend this property.

Delightful Home

  • 5 out of 5
We loved our house in Villars de Magny. Franck made it so easy to feel at home. We had excellent communication with him from the start, and after the experience of renting three separate homes during our six week Europe trip, we found Grape Rentals with Franck and Laura the most professional and thorough owners we worked with. They provided us with tons of information to get us going and a wonderful bottle of wine to introduce us to the region's bounty. The house itself was just perfect for the two of us. It was cozy in the rain, and wonderful when the sun was shining, and we could wander through the vineyard to other villages. The house was very well equipped with everything we needed. I would highly recommend Grape Rentals to anyone who wants to experience Burgandy.

Many of our guests make day trips to Paris using the TGV which leaves from both Beaune and Dijon and reached the Gare de Lyon in Paris in less than two hours. Geneva is only two hours East, Italy and Spain a day's drive, and Provence and the Cote d'Azur only three to four hours South.

Notes:
We are a Franco-Canadian family (my husband grew up in the Cote D'Or) and have been renting our house to a mainly North American clientèle for the past six years. As such, the house is fully equipped right down to a hair-dryer, iron and ironing board, and bindres full of local, 'insider' information. The house is professionally cleaned between each group of guests, and all bed linens and towels are professionally laundered. We pride ourselves on our special touches such as a bottle of local wine to welcome each group and binders packed full of information about our favourite restaurants, winemakers, boulangeries, etc. Whether or not you stay at our house, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have about travelling to Burgundy. If the dates you desire are booked, don't forget to enquire about another rental house we own in a neighbouring village.
