Places to Visit: Le Crann is situated in the commune of Quistinic, host to the 16th century village of Poul Fetan, immaculately restored to show life at that time. If you want to step further back in time, outside the village of Melrand (15 minutes away) is the Village de l’an mil, a 1000 year old reconstructed medieval village.

Close by there are many historic towns and castles to visit including Hennebont, Auray, Pontivy, Vannes, Josselin, Pont Aven, Concarneau and Lorient.

Morbihan is renowned for its megalithic stones with so many special places to visit; Carnac with its 3000 standing stones a must see, but also those at Erdeven, Locmariquer, Petit Mont or even catch a boat to the island of Gavrinis.

And if that’s not enough, the region has plenty of museums, zoos and parks. Art lovers can follow the “Art in the Chapel” exhibitions throughout the summer for a tour of the Blavet River chapels.

Things to do: The commune of Quistinic and the Blavet Valley is a walkers and cyclists paradise and we have details of many published routes with walking routes leading directly from Le Crann. We have 10 bicycles free of charge for our guests to use plus 1 baby seat.

For a lazy day, take a cruise down the River Blavet, or take one of many boat trips to the off shore islands and around the beautiful inland sea of the Gulf du Morbihan, where you can stop off on some of the larger islands for lunch, a walk and even a cycle. Within easy reach (30 to 45 minutes) are the many wonderful sandy beaches of Southern Brittany or the stunning lakes of inland Brittany. Even closer only 5 minutes away is the charming river beach at Minezan where the locals swim, picnic and relax on a hot summers day.

There is hardly a week that goes by without some festival in the region. Lorient hosts the delightful 10 day Inter- Celtique music festival and Josselin and Hennebont hold annually medieval festival. Many regattas are held at the yachting haven of Trinite-sur-Mer.

And dont forget those local markets and brocantes for fresh produce or that antique bargain.

Activities: Fishing: Brittany has some of the best fishing rivers in France, as well as something like a third of France’s coastline, giving a great variety for keen anglers. Fishing permits can be purchased for a day, two week or annual period, and will cover fishing in the whole department of Morbihan, or for an additional fee you can purchase a permit to cover all of Brittany.

Beaches: Whatever your type of beach there is a stunning choice of sandy beaches within 30 to 45 minutes, from golden sandy beaches, wild stunning stretches or sandy coves with rock pools, with a range of activities from swimming, sand-yachting, windsurfing, kite-surfing, sailing, surfing, kayaking.

Others: Adventure Park, Archery, Birdwatching, Boating, Boules, Canoeing, Clay-pigeon shooting, Cycling, Diving, Go-karting, Golf, Hiking, Horse riding, Kayaking, Nature-enthusiasts, Paint-balling, Quad biking, Rambling, Scuba Diving, Sea excursions, Shopping, Sightseeing, Swimming, Tennis, Tree-walking, Walking

Why Sue & Steve Anderson chose Quistinic

When we came across Le Crann, we could not believe our luck. These beautiful 16th century country cottages, in tranquil countryside, close to the beaches, amenities and road links with a strong and vibrant local culture was everything we wanted both as a home and as a business.

What makes this cottage unique

You really cannot get a more amazing setting than Le Crann. The hamlet is safely nestled at the end of a no through road with pathways right on your doorstep to explore the wooded valleys. What an amazing place to stay, we rented both cottages as there were 15 of us, 12 adults and 3 children. The cottages are maintained to a very high standard with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Sue and Steve were very helpful throughout and were always on hand to help with ideas for places to visit etc, they even booked a restuarant for us for our last evening there. The pools are very child friendly with a fence and locked gates so the children can run freely around the large grounds without you having to watch their every move. The surrounding areas are great for a stroll and places such as Vannes which i recommend a visit is only half an hour away.
All in all a great place to stay and would recommend it, we will definately be returning.
Thanks Sue and Steve.

Now that the hols are over, back to work again, sadly – we just wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful venue and location for our holiday with the family. It was truly memorable and one we will never forget. Iain and I went on to Newquay in Cornwall for the next week, and it did just not measure up to our holiday at le Crann! I have told many people at work about your cottages and I wish you a wonderful rest of season and 2011. Many thanks again

We booked both cottages for a family holiday with our children and grandchildren. We had a fantastic time. The cottages more than lived up to and indeed excelled the photos and blurb in the advertising. They are very clean and well maintained. They have everything you could want in them and more. Sue and Steve were very welcoming and helpful and have gone to a lot of work making up a book of information for visitors which was much appreciated. The pools were a great hit with our family and we were in them or sitting round them every day that we could. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained with lots of room for the children including a play area, football net etc. Amenities for laundry were available and well used! All our family were enchanted with it and would certainly like to go again in the future.
Sue and Steve will get in any basic shopping that you may need, and there are plenty supermarkets within easy reach to keep you well fed. As we were a large group we did not eat out much at all, but we still enjoyed the local fare, buying from the markets and boulangerie etc. Sue and Steve will help with any questions or needs you may have and we would recommend this property to our friends and family.
We visited the Submarine Museum in Lorient - the museum was a bit disappointing, but going into the submarine was really good fun.
Vannes was a very popular town - very beautiful and full of character. We were there for the Bastille day celebrations and it was very colourful with people dressed up in period costume and dancing and parading in the streets. Well worth a visit. The Pont Scorf Zoo is also well worth a visit, although it rained while we were there. However, weather asidef it is a very good Zoo. Another lovely place is the weather is good, is Carnac. We visited the standing stones first and then got a 'free bus' down to the beach. The beach was lovely and the sea safe. The Quiberon Peninsula is another beautiful place to visit and shouldn't be missed when you are in this area.
Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable holiday which we will always remember. We were a mixed group of granny and grandad, mums and dads and young children and we all enjoyed it together.
The roads in France are very good, both the motorways and the lesser roads and the area around Le Crann is very quiet. We enjoyed driving!
We wish Sue and Steve all the best for the future and hope to be back some day to their beautiful property.

Wisteria Cottage experience

4 out of 5
Review Submitted: 10 November 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010
We stayed at Wisteria Cottage from 18th - 26th September 2010. On arrival we were given a warm welcome by Sue and Steve (the resident owners) who then gave us a comprehensive tour of the property, including the pools. We found this most helpful, eliminating having to make enquiries about thnigs we weren't sure of. Having said that Sue and Steve were there if we needed them at any time and more than happy to sort out any problems quickly and efficiently.

The weather was on our side for the time of year and we enjoyed a wonderful week exploring the area and generally relaxing. The pool we used was in a lovely position, always clean and well kept. The gardens are very peaceful and sheltered with surrounding woodland so a real suntrap. The traditional farmhouse was comfortable and well equipped. A bonus for us was the bath as we have found that alot of French properties do not have one. Altogether we would recommend this for a real French experience in a beautiful area of Brittany.
