Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Quistinic - La Vigne
Cottage with own heated pool.

Set in an acre of beautiful landscaped gardens, these two beautiful and immaculately kept gites (cottages), each with their own individual heated pool (available from May to end of Sept) and large secure private garden, provide a great base for those wanting to explore, or those seeking to enjoy a relaxing break in rural Brittany.

Just 1 km from the village, with its many amenities, the peace and tranquillity of the Blavet Valley can be enjoyed, whilst still being with an easy drive of the wonderful large, sandy beaches, to be found in this part of southern Brittany.

Perfect for exploring the historic towns and chateaux of Josselin, Aurary, Pontivy or Vannes, to name but a few of the many architecturally rich towns and cities of the region.

The cottages are furnished and equipped to a very high standard, with great attention given to detail to meet the exclusive requirements of individual guests. For those who need to 'keep in touch' whilst away, we do of course provide unlimited free wi-fi access.

Through thoughtful planning both cottages offer a high degree of privacy, making them perfect for couples looking for a romantic break, or for families who can be safe in the knowledge that the properties are very child friendly and are able to be booked individually or together for that perfect family holiday.

A meal for the evening of your arrival, or for any other time during your stay, can be arranged via a local chef. Celebration cakes can also be arranged for those special occasions.

The games/playroom has access from the garden, with snooker, table-tennis, darts, babyfoot and a secure corner for young children, housing a Little Tykes Log cabin, activity games and blackboards.

For those wishing to go walking or cycling along the heavily wooded rural roads and 100 kms plus of canal towpath, our selection of bicycles and maps, make this possible.

See our own website for further information on what we can offer.

The beautiful Blavet Valley and surrounding area offer plenty to do and see. With numerous historic towns and chateaux, vast sandy beaches, water-sports, museums, churches and markets, and with an abundance of footpaths, including the many kilometers of towpath, the area provides something to do and see for everyone.

Here is a sample of what the area can offer:

Poul Fetan (5 km) a thatched medieval village and working farm, with traditional baker, potter and the opportunity to experience the Breton way of life from yester-year;

Beaches: This part of Brittany is lucky enough to have many wonderful sandy beaches, the nearest being at Port Louis, where an ancient fort can be found fronting the beach; others can be found at Guidel or Carnac;

Historic towns:

Josselin is a most attractive market town with many historic buildings and cobbled streets. The Chateau, with its three towers, dominates the town and overlooks the river;

At Pontivy you will find a lovely medieval town with its fortified 15th century chateau and regimented streets laid out to Napoleon's plan;

The historic walled town of Vannes, ancient capital of Brittany,, with its architecturally rich heritage is a fascinating place for a day out, especially on market days;

Auray is a beautiful coastal town with plenty of quaint side-streets. At the nearby historic port of St Goustain, seafood enthusiasts can indulge their appetites at excellent quay-side bars/restaurants, or taste freshly-baked pizzas and salads, whilst overlooking the Harbour;

Carnanc is one of the most important megalithic sites in Europe, known for the very high number of over 3,000, impressive, prehistoric monuments stretching for 3.75 kms.

Art and festivals:

Many festivals are held across Brittany throughout the summer, where one can hear local Celtic music being played, watch traditional Breton dance and partake of local food and drink.

In August, the Lorient Inter-Celtic festival is held; this is the largest traditional music festival in Brittany, which is held each year, for 10 days. Celts from all over the world descend, with 700,000 festival visitors brought together to enjoy a really convivial atmosphere;

Just 1 km away, at Quistinic, the Pardon des Chevaux is held. This takes place annually at the end of July. A festival dedicated to celebrating the life of the horse, where the horses are blessed at a church service, followed by an all-day-long celebration when locals get together in true Bretton style to enjoy themselves with music and a glass or two of cider;

Chapels of Art:

The villages along the river are renowned for their historic chapels. The most attractive is, without doubt, St Gildas in Bieuzy-les-Eaux. Named after the Irish monk who came here in the 6th century, the chapel is tucked underneath a rocky outcrop on a grassy bank next to the river. From July through until mid-September, about 25 of the valley's chapels, which date from the 15th century, host contemporary art exhibitions;

Markets:

The best place to experience local produce is at one of the many markets; Everyday a market can be found not far away; the ones at Hennebont, Aurary and Vannes, are well worth a visit.

Wonderful Place to Stay

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 02 October 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
It was our daughters first trip abroad although you wouldn't have thought it. The gite was so spotlessly clean and comfortable that it was just like being at home. A car is a must to get around but the beaches are just beautiful and safe for young children. There is so much to see we will definitely be back again.
I would really recommend this holiday for anyone wanting to get away from it all and have a peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
You must also try the Breton cake!

We spent our honey moon in this lovely cottage, it was perfect, clean, well equipt and in a fantastic location. The owners Chris and Richard were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend this property to families and couples. the pool was warm and very welcoming especially as we had hot weather.

A wonderful, peaceful retreat!

Review Submitted: 10 August 2012 Date of Stay: June 2012
I cannot praise this gite and facillities enough. The cottage was immaculately clean, there was every thing that we could have asked for, from a childrens playroom to a jar of oregano for the takeaway pizzas!. Sally's meals are excellent and the bbq menu that we ordered from and cooked on the gite's bbq was fantastic. We fell completely in love with this area of France and this cottage. Chris & Richard were great hosts. Thank you very much for a lovely holiday. We will be back!

Lovely cottage and garden

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 19 September 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010
We spent 2 weeks In Brittany with La Chouette as our base and can't recommend it enough. The cottage is beautiful and the setting idyllic but still has the necessary mod cons. The garden is perfect and private from La Vigne and we spent plenty of time lounging or barbequing - plus collecting walnuts! Be sure to visit Poul Fetan which has a surprising amount to see and the towns of Josselin, Pontivy and Quimper are within driving distance and well worth a visit. Although the village of Quiistinic is small the cottage is only a 5 minute drive from Bubry which has more shops and an Intermarche.

wonderful stay at La Chouette

Review Submitted: 09 September 2010 Date of Stay: August 2010
we have just returned from La Chouette and had a wonderful time, the house was so clean and beautifully decorated, the gardens are truly beautiful and spacious and the pool was a delight as we had wonderfull weather!
The village of Quistinic is very quiet but a short drive away are the towns of Baud and Auray which have restaraunts, shops and supermarkets., and another short drive takes you to the beach.
If you are looking for a relaxing family holiday then this is a perfect retreat.
