The town of Fougeres has been dominated by the 9th century castle which still stands proudly as the biggest in the whole of Europe. The town is a beautiful place to wander during the summer months, strolling from huge, elegant fountain to the next, taking in the beautifully colourful Breton houses and ornate statues the town is famed for.
Tremblay is a wonderful rural village just 15km from Fougeres. The beaches and forests are perfectly accessible from Tremblay, and if you are hoping for a relaxing holiday of culture and activity, a holiday rental cottage in Tremblay is an excellent option.
There is a wonderfully mild climate in Fougeres, with no extreme conditions at any time of year. The summer months are beautifully warm, without the searing heat of Southern France. Daily temperatures in Fougeres during July and August usually reach around 25°C, and in the winter, you can expect daily temperatures of between 5 and 10°C.
Fougeres is very easy to reach. There are flights from the UK to Brest (BES) and Dinard (DNR), and the sea ports of St Marlo and Roscoff can both be reached within 45 minutes of a Fougeres apartment.
