Lamplugh is the perfect starting place to explore the Lake District. Loweswater is the nearest lake, just 3 miles away. Here there are lovely lakeside walks through the woods with an award winning pub at the other end. Ennerdale Lake is 4 miles in the other direction and here you will still see more sheep than people! As well as low level walks there is good mountain walking and mountain biking with some of the Lake District’s highest mountains in the Ennerdale valley.
The nearst town, Cockermouth is a 15 minute drive from Lamplugh and has pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. It also houses Jennings Brewery, the Lake District’s best known brewer of fine ales – well worth a visit!
Within easy reach are several interesting stately homes with fantastic gardens, the steam railway at Eskdale, horse riding over the moors, go-karting at Maryport and Go-Ape at Whinlatter near Keswick.
