Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Lamplugh - Low Millgillhead
Three houses sleeping 12, 10 & 4; Can sleep a total of 26 people

Here we have three Georgian houses, all very different from each other, each with their own gardens and own privacy, yet with the possibility of taking all three together to sleep up to 26 if you so wish.

The main house, Low Millgillhead sleeps 10 and offers comfortable accommodation with an open fire, good sized bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen with separate dining room. Many of the original features have been retained and it has an acre of gardens to the front and the back of the house.

Croft House is a beautiful barn conversion with a fantastic sitting room with dining area – ideal for group or family get togethers. The mature gardens have interesting nooks to explore, including a secret garden hidden away amongst the rhododendrons.

Rose Cottage is a pretty cottage sleeping four people. An open fire in the sitting room gives the cottage a cosy feel and up the spiral staircase is a twin and a double bedroom. The garden outside is lovely.

Lamplugh is the perfect starting place to explore the Lake District. Loweswater is the nearest lake, just 3 miles away. Here there are lovely lakeside walks through the woods with an award winning pub at the other end. Ennerdale Lake is 4 miles in the other direction and here you will still see more sheep than people! As well as low level walks there is good mountain walking and mountain biking with some of the Lake District’s highest mountains in the Ennerdale valley.

The nearst town, Cockermouth is a 15 minute drive from Lamplugh and has pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. It also houses Jennings Brewery, the Lake District’s best known brewer of fine ales – well worth a visit!

Within easy reach are several interesting stately homes with fantastic gardens, the steam railway at Eskdale, horse riding over the moors, go-karting at Maryport and Go-Ape at Whinlatter near Keswick.

Beautiful

Review Submitted: 16 November 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
I can thoroughly recommend this property. It was clean and well furnished with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The children loved the spiral staircase!

We also found the cottage well placed for local walks or for setting off further afield. Cockermouth is a 10 minute drive away and has lots of nice places to eat and the Wordsworth Museum which was a refreshingly interactive experience. The children loved it.

Only complaint would be that the house did smell a little of wet dog when we arrived although, as I said above, it was clean (although we did clean the windows as they were very murky!)

All in all lovely, would definitely go back.
