Weather in the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are known for their pleasant year-round weather, with daily highs of at least 20 degrees, even in winter. The sunniest months are between May and October, and if you head there in mid-summer you’ll encounter no rainfall and daily temperatures that get up to the high-20s. The wettest months of the year are December and January but even then there are normally only five or six rainy days per months at this time of year.

Travelling to the Canary Islands

You can get to the Canary Islands and your Canary Island holiday cottages via the international airports at Tenerife South (TFS), Lanzarote (ACE), Fuerteventura (FUE), Gran Canaria (LPA) and La Palma (SPC). There are also smaller regional airports at La Gomera (GMZ) and El Hierro (VDE) and you’ll also be able to catch ferries between the islands. The main mode of public transport in the Canary Islands is the bus, with lines linking to all the major tourist destinations and metropolitan routes in the cities. If you’d like to experience the islands’ beautiful scenery in your own time then it may be worth hiring a car.
