Holidaymakers looking for a hot area in the south west of the United States may like to try the Inland Empire region of Southern California. A great family day out can also be enjoyed at Moonridge Zoo. The area has many areas of natural beauty as well with state parks, rivers, lakes, mountains and canyons in abundance here. Riverside is full of interesting places including William Childs House and Heritage House as well as a few churches. Some historic sites can be found at Barstow including Fossil Canyon Petroglyph Site and Newberry Cave Archaeological Site.

The coolest months are January and December when the average low is 50 degrees Fahrenheit. February is generally the wettest month of the year with average rainfall of 3.2 inches.
Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) is two miles from Palm Springs and has flights arriving from various other U.S cities including Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Sacramento, San Francisco and Seattle. There are also seasonal flights here from the Canadian cities of Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver. Visitors from outside North America can take a flight to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and either get a connecting flight to Palm Springs or drive to their accommodation. Flights arrive in Los Angeles from many cities including Amsterdam, Beijing, Frankfurt, London, Moscow, New York, Paris, Rome, Sydney, Tokyo, Toronto, Washington and Zurich. Los Angeles is approximately an hour and fifteen minute drive to Riverside, which is the largest city in the Inland Empire region. There are car rental services at Palm Springs and Los Angeles airports.
